A former WWE personality opened up about joining AEW. She says she wanted to join after talking to Tony Khan.

Jennifer Pepperman worked as part of the creative team for WWE for several years. She worked closely with Mercedes Mone during her time with the Stamford-based promotion. However, she recently left WWE and joined AEW where she currently works as Vice President of Content Development.

Jennifer Pepperman recently appeared on the AEW Unrestricted podcast where she opened up about how she joined the company. She mentioned that she first spoke to Mercedes Mone and then spoke to Tony Khan. She also mentioned that she immediately wanted to join the promotion after speaking to Tony.

“I have to say one other thing though about coming to AEW. That was the first step (talking to Mercedes Monè) and when I met with Tony [Khan], I immediately wanted to come work here. From his creativity, his passion, his joy, his love for professional wrestling, his mind. So, Mercedes was the first step and as soon as I met Tony, I was like, ‘I need to be here.’”

QT Marshall debunks major myth about AEW

Ever since All Elite Wrestling launched back in 2019, it has come under heavy criticism, especially in recent years with the biggest claim being that the inmates run the asylum meaning that the wrestlers make the creative decisions. However, this myth has now been debunked.

QT Marshall recently appeared on Keepin' It 100 where he mentioned that Tony Khan will listen to his wrestler's ideas but he will only implement them if he feels like it.

"I think when it goes to the inmates running the asylum like that, they do have some, you know, say when they come up with stuff, but he's not always gonna just say, 'Yes, right!' like even all the way to Chris Jericho, like, he'll say something, and Tony will say, like, 'Well, no! We're not gonna do that because this is going on and X, Y, and Z,' and Chris will say, 'Okay, yeah, that makes sense,' or he's gonna try to fight it," he said. [1:36-1:56]

However, there are reports which suggest that Tony Khan has given creative control to some of his talent like Mercedes Mone.
