AEW has endured its fair share of scandal over the last five years, including backstage brawls, releases, and even legal trouble for a couple of its stars. However, one of its former talents, Jeff Hardy, has revealed that he is now clean and sober.

Jeff Hardy is a legend of the wrestling business, but his demons are almost as famous as he is. The 47-year-old has struggled with drug and alcohol issues for years, and he's been in plenty of hot water for it. Jeff joined his brother, Matt Hardy, in AEW back in February 2022, but unfortunately, his issues followed him there.

Hardy was arrested for driving under the influence in June 2022 and was suspended from All Elite Wrestling. While he did return, he and Matt never enjoyed the kind of run many fans would have liked to see for them.

Since leaving AEW earlier this year, however, Jeff Hardy seems to be on a better path. Speaking on a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, The Charismatic Enigma revealed that he is clean:

"Oh, clear-minded. To be a sober, innovative Jeff Hardy, I mean, it just…it’s almost childlike, the feeling of how it felt before I ever gave into drugs or alcohol. We were obsessed with pro wrestling. That was it. That’s what, that was our main concern. That obsession became our dream that came true as pro wrestlers. So I feel like I’m back there in an older body. I think a lot more with my heart now instead of my mind. I try my best not to let my mind play tricks on me." [H/T: SEScoops]

Matt Hardy isn't ruling out a return to AEW for himself and his brother

Matt and Jeff Hardy departed Tony Khan's promotion a few months ago, and they're currently enjoying their time in TNA and on the independent scene. However, there's a chance they could return to All Elite Wrestling before they hang up their boots.

On a recent edition of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the elder Hardy brother quoted wrestling's famous adage: "Never say never."

"As far as going to WWE or AEW, it’s a never-say-never scenario in my world. In the extreme life of Matt Hardy, it’s a never-say-never. You never rule anything out. You never close any doors on anything. You do your best, you keep your chin up, you keep moving forward, and try to speak as honestly and as transparently as possible," Matt Hardy said.

While some fans are hoping to see the Hardys return to WWE to get their well-deserved Hall of Fame induction, it seems that the brothers still have some gas left in the tank. Whether they continue in TNA or move back to AEW or WWE remains to be seen.
