Current AEW star reacts to Cody Rhodes naming him 'dream heel opponent'

An AEW star replied to Cody Rhodes' recent comments about him. The star being discussed is Jake Roberts, famously known as 'Jake "The Snake" Roberts.''

The American Nightmare had a great run in the Jacksonville-based promotion. Along with being an amazing wrestler, he also served as an EVP for the company, having a significant role in bringing the promotion into existence. During his time, he feuded with Lance Archer, who was managed by Jake Roberts.

The WWE Hall of Famer has been All Elite since 2019 and has played different roles for AEW. In 2020, he introduced The Murderhawk Monster as a huge threat to the Undisputed WWE Champion. Jake Roberts was a great heel during his run. The star is currently managing Rush, Dralístico, and The Beast Mortos).

Recently, The American Nightmare named the WWE veteran the opponent he would like to face in the ring. To this response, Jake took to X/Twitter and thanked Cody Rhodes.

DDP revealed Cody Rhodes brought Jake Roberts in AEW

The former TNT Champion played an important role in signing major stars for the company as he was EVP.

In 2020, Diamond Dallas Page revealed that Cody Rhodes was responsible for bringing Jake Roberts to the Tony Khan-led promotion.

"Cody bringing in Jake Roberts was his idea. I had nothing to do with it. I always put Jake over and he asked me how Jake is doing and I'd tell him the truth – he's doing great. I never said anything about bringing him on as that was all Cody's idea. When Jake had come in for ten weeks that was enough for Cody to see this guy is the best Jake Roberts he's been maybe ever," he said.
