A major AEW star was subtly referenced by Corey Graves during WWE Bad Blood tonight. The incident occurred after the Women's World Championship match after Rhea Ripley was attacked by the returning Raquel Rodriguez.

The AEW star in question was none other than Buddy Matthews. Ripley took on Liv Morgan for the WWE Women’s World Champion with Dominik Mysterio locked inside a shark cage. This stipulation was set in place to prevent Dirty Dom from getting involved in the match.

Rhea Ripley won the match as a result of a disqualification after Rodriguez attacked her while she was busy attacking a hapless Dominik Mysterio with a kendo stick. The DQ meant that the title could not change hands and that Morgan was still the champion.

After the match, Corey Graves felt bad for Ripley and said that he hoped she finds happiness, while subtly referencing Matthews. The WWE commentator said:

“I hope Rhea finds happiness. Maybe a guy with big muscles. Or even an Australian. Who knows?”

Despite working for rival promotions, real-life partners Rhea Ripley and Buddy Matthews often show support for each other on social media. It will be interesting to see what the member of the House of Black will have to say after the latest attack on Ripley by the returning Raquel Rodriguez.
