CM Punk recently made a surprising claim about a top AEW star. The latter is none other than Samoa Joe.
The Best in the World walked out of WWE Bad Blood 2024 victorious after defeating Drew McIntyre in a grueling Hell in a Cell match earlier this month. Punk recently appeared on the No Contest Wrestling podcast with O’Shea Jackson Jr. and TJ Jefferson, where he was asked to select four names he would want to back him up if he ever found himself in a hypothetical barfight against a crowd of people.
The former AEW World Champion picked WWE Superstars Bron Breakker, Shayna Baszler and Braun Strowman.
"I'm taking Bron Breakker. I'm taking Shayna Baszler. She's with me. She's my homie. I feel like Braun Strowman is a good pick for this type of situation. Nicest guy in the world, but if we've got to get out of here, he's making a hole."
The Straight-Edge Superstar then selected former Ring of Honor and All Elite Wrestling rival Samoa Joe as his final pick. In addition, Punk hinted at having been involved in circumstances, along with Joe, similar to the hypothetical one under consideration back in the "early 2000s."
"I don't know about the statute of limitations, but there have been some situations in the early 2000s where maybe somebody who looked a lot like me and somebody who looked a lot like Samoa Joe were in similar situations," said Punk. [H/T - Fightful]
Notably, Punk wrestled his last match in AEW against The Samoan Submission Machine at All In 2023, defeating the latter to retain his "Real" AEW World Championship. He was fired by the Tony Khan-led promotion due to his backstage scuffle with Jack Perry at the pay-per-view.
