AEW recently paid tribute to Kevin Sullivan after the latter's unfortunate passing. The wrestling legend had been involved in a serious accident earlier this year, after which he had undergone emergency surgery. The complications following the accident and subsequent surgeries had dealt a severe blow to his overall health.

Kevin Sullivan is a respected figure in the annals of pro wrestling, among fans as well as among industry veterans. He was best known for his time in WCW, where he was involved in a long-running feud with Hulk Hogan.

The Taskmaster also played a key role in the establishment of the stable called The Dungeon of Doom, whose members included WWE legend King Haku and AEW star Paul Wight. Furthermore, he served in the capacity of a booker in WCW, although he would be fired from the company before it was sold to WWE in 2001.

On August 9, 2024, Kevin Sullivan's long-time friend Barry Rose announced that the veteran had passed away at the age of 74. AEW recently honored the former WCW World Tag Team Champion on their official X/Twitter profile, paying respect to the departed legend.

"The Boston Battler, The GamesMaster, A masterful mind of pro wrestling. Rest In Peace Kevin Sullivan. #AEWRampage", posted the company.

Ric Flair and Kevin Sullivan shared the squared circle countless times in the 1980s and the 1990s. The Nature Boy recently reacted to the latter's passing on social media, expressing his grief and voicing his respect for Sullivan as an athlete and as a friend. Taking to X/Twitter, Flair wrote:

"I am so saddened to hear about Kevin Sullivan’s passing. Rest In Peace Kevin! You were an all time great athlete & friend," he wrote.

Ric Flair debuted in All Elite Wrestling as the company's "retirement gift" to Sting en route to his last wrestling match at Revolution 2024. However, it was reported last month that The Dirtiest Player in the Game had parted ways with the Tony Khan-led promotion as its agreement with Flair's energy drink line had supposedly reached an end.
