AEW Dynamite celebrated its fifth anniversary this week. The latest episode of Wednesday Night Dynamite turned out to be a blockbuster, with many memorable moments taking place throughout the night.

Unfortunately, Taz failed to be a part of the latest edition of AEW's flagship show. The legendary commentator was mysteriously attacked in the parking lot hours before Dynamite, and it has yet to be revealed who is the mastermind behind this assault on the ECW veteran.

The 56-year-old hurt his leg during this brawl, resulting in him being hospitalized. HOOK, Taz's son, appeared in a backstage segment with Renee Paquette on Dynamite to warn his father's attackers.

Attacking Taz might be a way for the unrevealed assailant to send a message to Hook, who is one of the fastest-rising stars in the Tony Khan-led company. In this article, let's look at five stars who could be behind the shocking assault on Taz.

#5. Jack Perry might be out for revenge on HOOK

Jack Perry could possibly be the individual who launched an attack on Taz in the parking lot. The Scapegoat has some bitter memories from his feud with HOOK in 2023, which essentially kicked off his downfall in All Elite Wrestling.

The former Jurassic Express member struggled for a long time after losing the FTW Championship to HOOK at All In 2023. Now that he has the backing of The Elite, the reigning AEW TNT Champion would like to revisit his rivalry with The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil.

The Scapegoat could have reignited his feud with HOOK by attacking Taz this week. Having done a decent job as a champion so far, Perry would like to cement his title reign by conquering the former FTW Champion.

Jack Perry might not have forgotten the humiliation he suffered at the hands of the 25-year-old last year. The Scapegoat would be yearning to avenge his previous loss against The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil, which prompted him to take Taz on his target.

#4. Roderick Strong could have attacked Taz

Roderick Strong unsuccessfully challenged HOOK for the FTW Championship at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam. After the match, The Messiah of Backbreaker broke character to show respect to the young star.

While many fans believe Strong to be a babyface now, the 41-year-old star may have some other plans in store. The former NXT North American Champion could have pretended to be a good guy in front of HOOK so that he could later backstab The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil.

The former AEW International Champion could have made a massive statement by taking out Taz in the parking lot. The Messiah of the Backbreaker may just have exploited HOOK's weak spot by injuring his father.

Considering the affection that he has for his legendary father, HOOK would go past any limits to make Strong pay for his crimes if the latter is revealed as the unidentified attacker.

#3. Bobby Lashley may have set his sights on his newest victim

As per recent reports, Bobby Lashley has signed a deal with All Elite Wrestling. Now that Shelton Benjamin and MVP are officially All Elite, it won't be too long before we see The All Mighty in AEW as well.

Although MVP and Benjamin currently have their sights set on Swerve Strickland, The Killshot may not be the only individual on their radar. As they look to establish their dominance in the Tony Khan-led company, they may also target HOOK.

Bobby Lashley could be revealed as Taz's mystery attacker in the upcoming months. The Dominator could have been the one to launch the heinous assault on Taz, intending to put HOOK and the rest of the roster on notice.

MVP and Co. would be eager to introduce themselves in a dominant way by decimating a homegrown AEW talent like The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil.

#2. Christian Cage could go after HOOK after seemingly attacking Taz last night

Many fans believe that it was Christian Cage who blindsided Taz in the parking lot. As someone who is obsessed with the father-son duos of AEW, The Patriarch could turn out to be the man who is responsible for injuring the veteran commentator.

Interestingly, the leader of The Patriarchy appeared in a backstage promo segment on Dynamite, right after HOOK addressed his father's attackers. While many believe it to be a mere coincidence, other fans feel that it could be a direct foreshadowing of a feud between HOOK and Cage.

The former WWE Superstar also mentioned the word "Hook" in his promo, which further strengthens the belief that Cage is the one who took out Taz. A rivalry between The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil and the leader of The Patriarchy would certainly be an exciting prospect.

Christian Cage would attempt to break HOOK's morale with his mind games, while the young star would rely on his technical abilities to punish the veteran. If Cage is indeed the one behind Taz's assault, it might turn out to be a grave mistake for the former AEW TNT Champion, as HOOK would not allow the 50-year-old star to get away with his actions.

#1. Powerhouse Hobbs could have sown the seeds for his AEW return

Powerhouse Hobbs is reportedly nearing his return to All Elite Wrestling. The Embodiment of Willpower has been absent from in-ring competition due to a knee injury he suffered in April 2024.

The 33-year-old star comes across as one of the most obvious names who could have destroyed Taz in the parking lot. As a former member of Team Taz, the gigantic performer has a notable history with the veteran.

Taking out a legendary name like Taz could be a great way for Hobbs to make his return to the Jacksonville-based promotion. However, the incident is likely to bring him on a collision course with HOOK.

Powerhouse Hobbs would generate immense heat from fans if he ended up being Taz's unidentified assailant. The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil has been left stunned by this incident and has declared that he will hunt down his father's attacker.

The audience would be excited to see a rivalry between HOOK and Powerhouse Hobbs, two of the most prominent homegrown talents in AEW.
