The Young and the Restless fans can forget about things slowing down for the holidays in Genoa City! The show gave us a festive gala, shocking confrontations, and scenes from a marriage in danger!

What happened on The Young and the Restless

Nikki (Melody Thomas Scott) has gently put up with Victor's (Eric Braeden) shenanigans in the past. The blonde beauty has either ignored her husband's misdeeds or tried to gently persuade him to do the right thing. She made some headway earlier this year when she got Victor to realize that Claire (Hayley Erin) was going to love whom she loved, and, at the time, that man was Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor).

We saw Victor mend fences with Nate Hastings (Sean Dominic) at Thanksgiving, a reminder that yes, Victor can see the error of his ways (but don't tell him we said that!) and move forward. He can put the past in the past. The mogul, on some level, respects Audra Charles's (Zuleyka Silver) tenacity and also, Kyle putting $5 million on the table and offering to leave town if he broke Claire's heart. (Ironically, he got his heart broken by her!)

But any Y&R fan can tell you that Jack is not likely to give Jack Abbott (Peter Bergman) a break ever. Ashley (Eileen Davidson) offered to talk to Victor on behalf of the Abbott clan, but that idea was shot down. At least, Ashley had nothing to lose. Her and Victor's daughter, Abby (Melissa Ordway), is grown. Ashley and Victor aren't involved anymore. Nikki, however, did have something to lose. She drew a line in the sand, knowing that Victor would dare cross it. And did he ever!

Victor told Nikki that there was their front door, and she was free to use it anytime! Ah, yes. The door to their new ranch house, along with the house itself, is a little over a year old. And she was free to use it! It's too bad they weren't still in their last home. It was always hard to tell where the door was! (Kidding, of course!) Will Victor and Nikki split? And during the holidays, no less? Say it ain't so! We couldn't bear to have the couple break up after all these years and all those remarriages.

If they do break up, what's going to happen to Chancellor Industries and Newman Enterprises? Lawyers will get rich arguing in court over who should get what!

Always in fashion

Mandi Line, costume designer for The Young and the Restless, did an awesome job with all the fashions for the launch party for Abbott Communications. Heck, even the background players were decked out in themes that harkened back to the early days of television (or movies, take your pick!).

The party was everything a sudsy gala should be -- beautiful, costumes, interactions among numerous characters, romantic tension, and a few twists. We loved seeing Phyllis (Michelle Stafford) roll her eyes at one point over Abbott Communications, as she was once attached to the media company that finally, finally got off the ground. Jack shot a look at Cane (Billy Flynn), who was a last-minute addition to the party as Lily's (Christel Khalil) guest.

There was a surprise, too! Victor attacked Jabot not with Cane's Artificial Intelligence program, but with a hit piece from Newman Media. The Abbotts were forced to do damage control after Victor's media outlet painted Jabot in a bad light.

Later in the week, Chelsea (Melissa Claire Egan) pointed out to Adam (Mark Grossman) that the article on Jabot moving its assets around was because Victor was threatening to use the AI program. Talk about a conflict of interest!

We can't help but wonder what journalists work at Newman Media and, for that matter, Abbott Communications? If it's just Adam and Chelsea, and Billy and Sally how is this quartet providing enough content to feed websites that are in constant need of fresh material? Are there editors there? Writers? Stringers? Why didn't someone at Newman Media advise Adam and Chelsea that a balanced story would include the long-running animosity between Victor and Jack and that Jack feared Jabot Cosmetics would suffer from Victor's AI program?

And why didn't Abbott Communications post a rebuttal story exposing Cane's AI threat? And the rumor that Victor has the program? It'd be great to see some characters who actually work at Newman Media and Abbott Communications. One of the sites should hire Leanna Love (Barbara Crampton), and another could bring on Theo Vanderway (Tyler Johnson), whose grandfather happened to be Stuart Brooks (Robert Colbert), who published the Genoa City Chronicle. These two and other characters playing journalists would add gravitas and authenticity to the show's media landscape.

Our gal Sally

Our admiration for Sally Spectra continues to flourish. She's got plenty on her plate in light of the launch of Abbott Communications. Sally would probably prefer to leverage Abbott Communications to counter Newman Media's hit on Jabot, but right now, that's not happening. Timing is everything, we suppose.

Sally still makes time for her bestie, Audra. Sally went through one rough time after another in Los Angeles. She tried to relaunch her family's design company only to have the building Spectra Fashions was housed in get blown to smithereens -- with her still inside! Sally also had failed relationships with men who dumped her for other women, more than once in some instances!

Sally could have let all this harden her, and she could have pushed people away. Instead, Sally is supportive of Audra because she's been in her shoes. She knows what it's like to have people against you. Billy! What are you thinking? Propose to this woman and do it in style! She deserves the best because she is the best!

Phyllis V. Victor

It's fascinating to watch the dynamic between Victor Newman and Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford). We've seen them interact quite a bit in 2025. Phyllis doesn't fear many people, and that might be too strong a word to use when describing her feelings about Victor, but she certainly respects him and honors his power.

Phyllis took a big roll of the dice when she gave Victor the AI program belonging to Cane. She's not happy that Victor isn't using the program the way she wants. Victor was bemused when Phyllis showed up at his house, demanding to know what he was doing to do. Well, nobody really demands things from Victor, but Phyllis did want to know what his plans were.

Foolish games

We can't help but wonder why the Newmans, who are wealthy people, don't have more security around them -- especially knowing that Matt Clark (Roger Howarth) is on the loose and in Genoa City. Noah (Lucas Adams) has impressed us by being a young man who knows what he wants, but his decision to leave the Newman ranch property with Sienna (Tamara Braun) was plain foolish.

Their time alone in Chancellor Park came at a price when rogue lawwoman Annie Stewart showed up and conked Noah over the head so she could take Sienna captive. Noah! What were you thinking? Sienna, too, should have known better. We're hoping that both emerge unscathed from this ordeal. But for the rest of Noah's life, his parents, Nick (Joshua Morrow) and Sharon (Sharon Case), will hold this foolish move over his head!
