On The Young and the Restless, we've seen Michael Baldwin and Lauren Fenmore face numerous adversities in a marriage that has lasted almost two decades, but they've always overcome them. December of 2025 marks their twentieth anniversary, so let's enjoy an early celebration by remembering some of the highlights of their love story and examining what makes them the best supercouple in Genoa City.

Michael and Lauren's love story on The Young and the Restless

Michael's and Lauren's love grew after his troubled half-brother Kevin (Greg Rikaart), who had committed a series of crimes, became obsessed with her. Lauren befriended him in the hope that he would let down his guard and confess to the crimes. But after he realized it was a trap, he held Lauren prisoner in his apartment. Thankfully, Michael arrived and talked Kevin into releasing her. Over time, Michael and Lauren tried to help Kevin, and in the process, they fell in love.

In 2005, jazz trumpeter Chris Botti was a special guest on The Young and the Restless and performed the processional at Michael and Lauren's wedding. The newlywed couple survived perpetual attacks from Sheila Carter (Kimberlin Brown) and Tom Fisher (Roscoe Born), including a yacht explosion on their honeymoon and Tom's kidnapping of Lauren.

Michael and Lauren have endured countless trials and tribulations in their twenty-year marriage

In 2013 on The Young and the Restless, Michael and Lauren struggled with the shocking news that their teenage son Fen (then-Max Ehrich) was involved in bullying, which put a major strain on their marriage and led Lauren into an affair with bartender Carmine (Marco Dapper). They dealt with serious health issues when Michael fought prostate cancer in 2015. They've lived through periods of separation and sought marriage counseling, but unlike so many other soap couples, they never divorced. Every time the writers created yet another monkey wrench to throw into the marriage, Michael and Lauren always found a way to combat it as they realized their love was too strong to abandon.

Michael and Lauren reflect on their life together

On Y&R's New Year's Eve of 2023, Michael and Lauren welcomed 2024 by renewing their marriage vows in an intimate ceremony at Society. As he told her earlier that year in a moment of reflection, "Lord knows we have faced obstacles that would pulvarize other couples."

Unfortunately, we don't see Michael and Lauren in many frontburner storylines anymore on Y&R, but we should. They always manage to keep their relationship fresh and romantic, and they respect each other's opinions. They take each other's advice into consideration, as we've seen in Michael's recent storyline where she encouraged him to sever his professional ties with Victor (Eric Braeden). She knew the emotional toll it took on Michael whenever Victor entangled him in one of his deceitful and sometimes dangerous plots.

Michael and Lauren bring out the best in each other, which is why they are Genoa City's best supercouple.
