The Young and the Restless Recap for Wednesday, November 20, 2024: Daniel confronts Sharon for answers

Sally ran into Connor and Chelsea at Crimson Lights. Connor said that he missed seeing Sally and added that his dad did, too. Connor told Sally that just because she and Adam weren’t together anymore didn’t mean they couldn’t still be friends.

Connor left to play with a friend upstairs. Chelsea tried to talk to Sally, but Sally made it clear they didn’t need to try to be friendly and wasn’t interested in small talk before walking away to the counter.

Sally knew she hadn’t been very generous towards Sally in the past, but as colleagues, she hoped they could get along. Sally admitted it wasn’t easy to be around Chelsea. “I don’t hate you, and I know what happened between you and Adam wasn’t all on you,” Sally said but added she wasn’t ready to forgive either of them.

Chelsea thought Sally was being more gracious than she would be if the roles were reversed. Sally thought what happened was inevitable. She said Chelsea and Adam belonged together.

Sally said she was okay with Adam and Chelsea being together. Chelsea claimed she didn’t want Adam back. “He’s never stopped loving you. You’ve always been in his heart,” Sally said. She saw Adam walk in and told Chelsea to trust her then walked out.

From Society, Billy called Jack and said he had some news, so Jack invited him over to talk. When Billy hung up, he saw Adam behind him. “What is it now, Billy,” Adam said with a sigh. “You just couldn’t help yourself, could you?” Billy asked.

Billy brought up the hatchet job Adam did to him in the press. “People come to Newman Media for the truth, and that’s what they’re going to get,” Adam retorted. Billy accused Adam of a daddy/son effort and said Victor only brought Adam back to do his bidding at his nepo job. “Actions have consequences. You never seem to understand that,” Billy told him. Adam revealed he knew Billy had been fired. Although he hadn’t released it in the press yet, he asked if Billy cared to comment on being kicked out of yet another family company.

Billy calmly explained that Adam’s hit pieces undercut his relationship with his mother, but Adam countered that Billy’s actions were the problem with Jill. “If you want to talk about personal attacks, why don’t we revisit the ‘Making of a Monster’ expose?” Adam reminded him. “That was a factual accounting of your choices and behaviors,” Billy said with a shrug. “What do you want from me?” Adam asked. Billy thought Adam could’ve shown a little restraint, especially after what happened with Chelsea. Adam said it wasn’t personal, but Billy didn’t believe it. “Try your best to spare Chelsea from your misery. Don’t ruin her life because it’s impossible for you to be happy,” Billy told him.

Adam said he was deeply sorry for hurting Sally. “But stabbing me in the back felt pretty good didn’t it.” Billy asked. Adam blamed Billy for everyone getting hurt because he pressed for answers about what happened in Baltimore. “This is who you are. You hurt people with no regard for the consequences,” Billy said. He added that Adam would never change before walking out.

At Sharon’s, Daniel said he heard about her confession and wanted to know how Sharon could do what she did. Sharon couldn’t explain herself, so Daniel went on about how Sharon had plenty to say for weeks.

Nick tried to get Daniel to calm down. Daniel screamed at Sharon, demanding to know why she killed Heather and framed him while Nick tried to hold him back.

Michael advised Sharon not to speak but she wanted to apologize to Daniel. He continued yelling at Sharon, telling her that she smashed the back of Heather’s head in. “And now I know your face was the last one she saw. This is your fault!” Daniel screamed. Sharon yelled back that she never wanted this to happen. Daniel said he didn’t care about her apologies as Nick wrestled to pull him away and told him to stop. Daniel got free of Nick’s grip and told him to get his hands off of him.

Sharon told Daniel she didn’t remember what happened. Daniel had lots of questions and wanted to know exactly what happened and why. Michael interrupted and told Daniel to stop but he said he would keep doing whatever he wanted, just like Sharon had been. Michael yelled at Daniel that Sharon had been arrested and formally charged. Daniel asked if she would plead not guilty. Nick offered to answer all of his questions if they went somewhere else.

“I shouldn’t even be here, I should be in the hospital with my mother,” Daniel snapped. He asked if Sharon was responsible for that, too, and if Phyllis was Sharon’s next victim. “I knew you resented me, but I never thought you’d take it this far,” Daniel told Sharon. Nick grabbed him and said he’d drive him to the hospital. After they left, Sharon broke down, and Michael stayed with her.

Michael told Sharon that people were going to support her through this. Mariah came in and gave her a hug. Michael left, and Sharon talked about everything with Mariah. Sharon said it was a relief to confess but told her about Daniel coming over. Sharon and Mariah couldn’t understand how Sharon did any of it.

At the hospital, Daniel asked Nick to set things aside. “This kind of energy will be bad for Summer and your mom,” he reminded them. Summer hugged Nick when he came in. Nick apologized to an unconscious Phyllis for not being there to stop the accident from happening and not listening. He said he knew she’d pull through. “We’re all here. Please come back to us,” Nick said as Daniel entered the room.

Summer told Nick there had been no change in Phyllis’ condition then asked Daniel where he went. “I went to see Sharon,” Daniel said, agitated. Nick said they should talk, and so he, Summer and Daniel went to the waiting room.

Nick said he wouldn’t excuse what happened but thought that Sharon’s meds played a role. Daniel accused him of already trying to save Sharon after Nick had just said he wouldn’t justify what she did.

Nick asked if Daniel believed that Sharon was really in her right mind when she killed Heather, dumped her body in the river, and framed him. “This isn’t Sharon,” Nick said. Summer and Daniel told Nick it wasn’t that out of character. After all, Sharon killed Cameron Kirsten and pushed Phyllis down a flight of stairs. “I mean, Sharon confessed, didn’t she?” Summer added.

Nick leaned in on Sharon’s bipolar disorder. Daniel exploded again saying that Nick was looking for anything to be in denial of what happened and why. “You know what it is. I know what it is. It is our history. Mine and Sharon’s. This all goes back to Cassie,” Daniel told him.

Summer and Daniel told Nick to stop defending Sharon’s actions and that she had been consciously going after Daniel and his family for months. “I’m telling you right now, she is going to pay,” Daniel added. Nick agreed there would be consequences. “No, no, no, Nick. Not a little stint in a psychiatric ward. Not those kind of consequences. She is going to do hard time in prison, and I’m not going to settle for anything less,” Daniel told Nick.

In the motel room, Jordan read Ian the news about Sharon’s arraignment. Jordan noted that she was sure the news would make Ian happy, but he said he wanted to know her family’s reaction first. Jordan knew everyone was wrecked over the news, but Ian said he wanted facts. Jordan reminded Ian that he had a better chance of finding out as he was released from prison and free to wander the city. Ian joked that he may be “reformed,” but he could still commit a crime or two when necessary.

Jordan told Ian she knew what he was capable of. “Which is why you should listen to me,” Ian warned. Jordan pointed out that everyone thinks she’s still locked up in prison. Ian took credit for sneaking her out. Ian told Jordan he expected more respect and obedience for rescuing her from her cell.

Jordan said she held Ian in the highest regard, but she didn’t take orders from anyone. She was grateful for the identity swap that got her out of prison, but said Ian was given focus and purpose because of her. She thought that made them equal partners.

Ian agreed they made a good team. He told her to put on a disguise and find out Faith and Mariah’s reaction to Sharon’s arrest. “I have the utmost confidence that you’ll be able to find a way to carry out the mission without too many more casualties,” Ian told Jordan.

Diane came into the Abbott mansion and told Jack about her meeting with Victor. “He transferred Glissade over to me, free and clear,” Diane confirmed. “Just like that?” Jack wondered. He asked if she saw any documents before forwarding them to the lawyers. Diane glanced over them and saw nothing odd but didn’t trust Victor would do it that easily. “His behavior is almost suspicious,” Diane added.

Jack and Diane discussed that after the paperwork was handled by the lawyers, they’d move on to their next step and give Glissade to Kyle to run without Victor. Diane wasn’t sure if it was enough of a gesture to heal the wounds between them.

Diane pointed out that the conflict all began when Kyle felt overshadowed and passed over at Jabot. She wanted to make a grand gesture. “What if you make Kyle your co-CEO at Jabot?” Diane suggested.

Diane said she would give up her position for Kyle. Jack didn’t want to ask Diane to give up something she’d worked so hard for. Diane didn’t know if she could live with herself if the plan failed after how far they had come. Diane suddenly yelled at Jack, saying that she would get what she deserved from their marriage. Jack was confused but then realized Billy had come in, and Diane was keeping up the act as planned.

Billy apologized for interrupting, but Jack said Diane was just leaving. He handed Diane her coat and told her to get out and not come back. They argued a bit more for good measure, and then she stormed out. Billy was convinced their marriage was really over.

Billy told Jack he was in a downward spiral, and it was one he couldn’t seem to get out of. “I’ve lost Abbott-Chancellor and now I’ve lost my mother, too,” Billy revealed.

Michael met Christine at the Athletic Club. She admitted that she had started to wonder if Phyllis’ accusations against Sharon had merit but now that they were true, she struggled to believe it. Michael said he was torn. He didn’t see Sharon as a cold-blooded killer, but she may be responsible for Phyllis’ accident.

Michael knew he was in a tough spot, and Phyllis’ accident was one more crime he’d have to defend. They talked about Phyllis’ condition and Michael was worried about his friend.

Michael and Christine discussed Sharon’s erratic behavior and her medication. “Are you going for an insanity defense? It’s a risky move and so hard to prove,” Christine noted. “It’s a good thing I’m as brilliant as I am,” Michael told her.
