At Nate’s apartment, Nate and Damian helped Amy to the couch. She remembered a time when Damian had been laid up on the couch after he’d sprained his ankle in high school while failing to dunk a basketball. Nate joked that a lack of basketball skills ran in the family. Amy recalled that she’d kept saying, “Easy does it,” but Damian had always responded with, “Easy never gets it done.”

Amy groaned that her first round of treatment and the trip back from Chicago had taken its toll on her. She said she’d been surprised to see the men walk into the hospital together, but it was the best medicine she could have hoped for. Damian invited Nate to play basketball sometime, jokingly offering to go easy on Nate after everything he’d done for Amy. Amy recounted that her doctors had told her that her shot clock had been running out, but Dr. Kelly had given her hope for the possibility of overtime.

Damian begged Amy to eat or drink something, and she promised to try after a nap. As Nate helped Amy upstairs, he mentioned that Audra had bought new sheets to make things nice for Amy. There was a knock at the door, and Damian found Lily there. “Oh, you’re here,” she coldly greeted, adding that they needed to talk.

Damian reported that Nate was upstairs with Amy after her first round of treatment. Lily mused that sometimes the treatment seemed as bad as the disease, and Damian noted that she sounded like she was speaking from experience. Lily vaguely replied that cancer had touched everyone in some way, and she suggested they speak privately across the hall. Damian asserted that his place was there with his mom, and he insisted that they have the conversation right there. Lily demanded to know what Damian and his boss were really up to.

Lily spat that she knew Dumas had sent information about her and Devon to Damian three months earlier, so they’d been on Damian’s radar longer than he’d been on theirs. An appalled Damian asked if she was still actively investigating him, and he swore she was making a big deal out of something that wasn’t. Lily testily questioned whether Damian had been playing them the whole time because he’d known about his half-brother and Amy’s illness before Nate had.

Damian questioned whether Lily thought so little of him that she believed he would have stayed away if he’d known his mother was dying. Lily argued that he’d been ready to get on a plane back to L.A. after he’d found out Amy was sick. Damian informed Lily that her timeline about what he’d known and when was way off. Damian suggested that Lily tell him who’d been feeding her lies. Nate interrupted and asked what was going on. Damian claimed it was all a big misunderstanding.

Damian told Nate about Lily’s accusations. Damian remembered reading something about Lily and Devon when Winters and Chancellor had merged and then split, but they’d only been names on a page. Damian shared that he’d checked in with his boss when Nate had reached out with a job offer, and Dumas had told him what he knew about the family business. Damian defended that the last thing he’d expected was for Nate to be linked to Amy or be his half-brother. Damian was adamant that whoever had given Lily misinformation was the one playing her.

Lily snapped that her source was more reliable than Damian, who’d told conflicting stories from day one. Damian thought he and Lily had been moving closer to becoming friends, and he questioned whether her compassion had been sincere or if she’d been playing him. Lily vowed that she wouldn’t let Damian or Dumas do anything to hurt her family, and she stormed out. Damian asked if Nate had shared Lily’s suspicions. Nate admitted that it was hard not to when Damian’s story kept changing.

Amy appeared at the top of the stairs and demanded to know why the men were at one another’s throats. Nate and Damian claimed it was a brotherly disagreement about basketball players. Amy mentioned that she’d heard Lily’s voice, and she called out the lie. Nate fibbed that they’d been arguing about what food they should make for Amy. Amy ordered them to sit down and tell her the truth.

At Society, Victoria imagined Claire hadn’t gotten much sleep after getting home late. Claire chalked it up to Nikki having a lot of deals in the works, and Victoria anticipated a promotion for Claire soon. Claire grumbled that some people believed she’d only been hired because she was a Newman. Victoria conceded that it might have gotten Claire the job, but Claire was working hard to keep it, and Victoria couldn’t be prouder.

Victoria imagined Claire was still having trouble believing she deserved praise, and she was determined to focus on making up for all the love Claire had missed growing up. Victoria gushed that Claire was a pure light in her life and everyone else’s. Claire chalked it up to Victoria and Cole showing her it was okay to live and love. Victoria knowingly asked if anyone else had helped, and Claire admitted that she’d never felt as close to someone as she did to Kyle.

Claire wished that Victor could see that Kyle made her happy. Victoria cautioned that Victor prided himself on holding grudges better and longer than anyone, and he always thought he knew what was best. Victoria added that Victor was emboldened because Adam and Chelsea had just reconciled, just like Victor had wanted. Claire didn’t want to see Kyle end up in a Myanmar prison or otherwise hurt because of her grandfather. Victoria questioned whether Claire was considering breaking up with Kyle to protect him from Victor’s wrath.

Claire vowed that no one would ever tell her what to think or do again. She contemplated why Victor was opposed to her happiness. Victoria clarified that Victor wanted Claire to be happy, but he also believed he was protecting her from Kyle. Claire challenged why he hadn’t done the same thing for Summer. Victoria guessed it was because Summer was Phyllis’ daughter, and perhaps Victor thought Summer could take care of herself. Claire thought she had proven herself after everything with Jordan. Claire contended that if she got knocked down, she’d get back up and hit back twice as hard.

Victoria reasoned that things had been different when Kyle and Summer had gotten married since there had been a truce between Victor and Jack back then. Victoria lamented that the truce had ended when Jack intervened after Nikki resumed drinking. Claire blamed herself, noting that Nikki had only started drinking again because of what Claire and Jordan had done. Claire thought it was even more reason she needed to find a way to change Victor’s mind.

As the women exited the restaurant, Claire pointed out that Victor had eventually accepted Victoria and Cole’s reunion. Victoria imagined Cole had earned Victor’s respect by staying true to who he was. Claire hoped Summer would fall in line if Victor changed his mind. Victoria urged Claire to stay in her bubble with Kyle and not let anyone burst it. Victoria promised to do what she could to keep Victor from interfering. Victoria added that she just wanted what was best for Claire, but it was up to Claire to choose what that was. They hugged.

At the Athletic Club, Jack listened as Kyle told someone over the phone that Jabot’s classic line was doing better than expected, thanks to Diane. After Kyle had hung up, he asked if Jack had seen Traci that morning, since she’d seemed off. Kyle chalked it up to the stress of planning a Parisian wedding. Jack steered the conversation back to business, and Kyle wondered if his sick day had been an issue. Jack stated that Kyle had earned time away from the office, and he commended the job Kyle had been doing as co-CEO.

Kyle recognized that he’d given his mother a hard time when she’d been co-CEO, but he conceded that she’d done a great job in the role and rebooted the classic line. Jack noted that adversity either broke them or made them stronger, and he was glad his relationship with Kyle was back on solid ground. Kyle said making peace had helped him get back to being the man he wanted to be, but someone else also deserved credit – Claire.

Kyle admitted that he hadn’t actually been sick and that he’d taken the morning off to be with Claire. Jack teased that Kyle was lovesick, but Kyle balked at using the “L-word” yet. Kyle explained that what he felt for Claire was different than what he’d felt for any other woman. Jack inquired about Summer, and Kyle replied that he’d always felt like he’d had to prove something with her. Kyle continued that he didn’t feel like he had to twist himself in knots to be a better man for Claire. Kyle proclaimed that with Claire by his side, he felt like he could do anything.

Jack gave Kyle his blessing, noting that the way Claie looked at Kyle was what every parent wanted for their child. Kyle was glad his family approved, but he wasn’t sure it outweighed the opinion of one person who’d expressed disapproval. Kyle pledged to take on Victor if he tried to get between them. Jack counseled that every relationship had challenges, but what mattered was that the couple faced them together.

Kyle worried that Victor would wear Claire down with his lies, forcing her to choose between Kyle and being a Newman. Jack doubted anyone else sided with Victor, but Kyle knew one person who shared Victor’s view – Summer. Jack mentioned that he’d run into Summer, and he suspected she wanted Kyle back. Jack cautioned that Victor would take advantage of Kyle’s past with Summer whether Summer still harbored romantic feelings or not.

Later, Jack left a message for Traci. Victoria approached, and she mentioned that she’d just been talking with Claire about Kyle. Jack and Victoria discussed their mutual support of the couple. Jack revealed that he’d heard Victor’s dire warnings, and he growled that if Victor caused either Kyle or Claire any heartbreak, Victor would answer to him. “And to me, as well,” Victoria replied.

Kyle and Claire beamed when they ran into one another at Crimson Lights. He clucked that someone was against them being together, but she chirped that plenty of people were for it. They agreed that it didn’t matter what anyone else thought.
