This week on The Young and the Restless, Sharon has souvenirs, Kyle wins the scavenger hunt, and Chance applies for a job.
The mysteries of the murder
Sharon had some explaining to do when she got home. Nick, Mariah, and Faith seemed somewhat satisfied with her responses, and life carried on. But then Cameron came back and filled in some blanks. It turns out that as much as Sharon seems completely out of it, she had enough sense to take and modify Heather’s phone.

Apparently, Sharon was lucid enough to use Heather’s dead body to unlock the phone using facial recognition, change the password for future access, and download an app that blocked tracking. That was pretty impressive.
What had us scratching our heads was why the ringer was still on. Even Mariah wondered if Sharon had changed her ringtone while she was gone.
After Sharon was missing and came back with a semi-lame excuse, it wouldn’t be too out of line for Nick or Mariah to peek through the window of her car. So, why, after dumping Heather’s carefully wrapped body over a bridge with her headlights shining on her, didn’t Sharon get rid of the bag of evidence?
It’s sitting in plain sight at the back of her vehicle. A bag of bloody towels and broken glass would be hard to explain.
Not all heroes wear capes
Chance asked to rejoin the GCPD just so he could investigate Heather’s death. Before he’d been hired, he called and asked a buddy at the station what he knew about the case.
Chance then told Phyllis that Daniel was about to get a lot more confused and feel a lot more pain. That’s something every horrified mother wants to hear. Chance continued that autopsies are graphic and hard to deal with. Daniel had only known about Heather even being gone for a couple of hours at best, so obviously, that was something he needed to be told immediately.
Chance rushed over with only enough information to upset Daniel but not enough to answer his questions. Daniel kept saying he didn’t know how to process what Chance was saying. Chance told him he’d try to do it again and went back to the station for more crumbs of info.
Grieving makes her hungry
Phyllis was at Crimson Lights when Daniel told her and Summer that Heather hadn’t come home. Daniel was sick with worry that Heather had left him permanently. Phyllis offered to buy him breakfast and said she’d meet him at the Athletic Club.
Phyllis was with Daniel at the Athletic Club when he got the call that Heather’s body was fished out of the river and her fingerprints were IDed. Daniel left to see for himself, and Phyllis headed back to Crimson Lights to see Nick.
After briefly going to Daniel and Lucy’s, Phyllis went back to the Athletic Club restaurant. Up until then, no one told Summer and Chance what was going on, so Phyllis told them in person. Then she sat at the bar for a bit.
When no one else came in, Phyllis looked for people she knew at Society. She found Billy and Sally at the bar, asked Sally to leave, and then stayed in the restaurant to grieve.
Misery loves company
Adam bumped into Sally and tried to convince her they belonged together but got rejected. So he went to find Chelsea and told her there was no hope for reconciliation for her and Billy.
When Adam saw Chelsea talking to Billy, he demanded to know what was going on. But he also said that Billy did the same thing at Society, and that’s why he punched him.
I was glad that Sally stood her ground with Adam and a little surprised that Billy wanted to give in to Chelsea. But what I do not want to see is Sally and Billy. That’s just me, and I have no real reason for it other than they just don’t seem suited for each other. Maybe I’m wrong, and maybe it’s a moot point, but it seems like they’re headed in that direction.
Victor’s challenge
When Victor told Audra and Kyle to prove to him who was the better choice as sole CEO of Glissade, I thought it would take longer for one of them to come up with a plan.
Kyle lucked out and found his mom’s laptop without a screen saver, and Audra didn’t stand a chance. Maybe Audra probably has not had a lot of examples of long-term relationships in her life, but her wide-eyed wonder at a couple bickering wasn’t her best look. The way she tried to pitch that gossip like it was insider trading to Victor might have put her on the chopping block even without Kyle’s bombshell.
Kudos to Kyle for thinking fast on his feet, though. Unfortunately for us, he gave Victor an ultimatum and won, so now we’ll have to see Kyle’s smug smirk and hear him gloating for a while.
But I couldn’t help but wonder if Diane left that computer open as bait.
As for Audra, she should stop and think. When she got Victor to be the investor and took the company from Tucker, she needed the board to vote her in as CEO. How is Victor just deciding that kind of stuff now?
Elsewhere in Genoa City
Although her wandering was odd, when Phyllis told Billy she needed him to be her friend, she tugged at my heartstrings. And that scene when Daniel went to the morgue…awful. The whole situation for the Romalottis was heartwrenching, and they had me well up a few times.
As for Sharon’s behavior this week, Sharon Case’s portrayal is nothing short of amazing. When Phyllis was telling her off for talking to Daniel, Sharon’s expression was spot on. And the way Joshua Morrow looked at Sharon as she chatted with Mariah at Crimson Lights, we could hear what he was thinking. But Sharon might not be the only one putting on an act.
Even though reporting it wasn’t enough to win a CEO position at Glissade, seeing Jack and Diane’s fighting was something. Has Diane snapped, and if so, when? She and Jack were a team, but then, all of a sudden, they weren’t, and she was angry at everyone. Is it an act to look like things are shaky at Jabot? Or is Diane acting the way that Kyle accused her of all along?
Until next week!
