Sadly, viewers of The Young and the Restless haven't seen Leanna Love, Genoa City's favorite gossip columnist and story catalyst, as of late. However, her portrayer, Barbara Crampton, has an exciting new project to tout!

All the Latest News

"Ring! Ring! Hello? It’s me Barbara ☎️," Crampton shared on Instagram. "Watch The Last Stop in Yuma County available NOW on @paramountplus and @showtime! Hope you enjoy!!"

Written and directed by Francis Galluppi, The Last Stop in Yuma County tells the story of a traveling salesman who is thrust into a dire hostage situation when two bank robbers show up. Unfortunately, the two thieves have no qualms about using cruelty or cold, hard steel to protect their fortune!

This film is just one of many projects that Crampton has that are out or in development. Also on her "todo" list are the films Savage Madame Benoit, Grind, Every Heavy Thing, The Possession at Gladstone Manor, Teacher's Pet, and Yankee Rose.

Crampton first came to the attention of daytime fans when she was cast as the ill-fated Trista Evans, a nurse, who was Marlena Evans' (Deidre Hall) cousin on Days of our Lives. Trista was killed off by the Salem Strangler, but that wasn't the end of Evans' soap career. She next joined the short-lived Rituals, a syndicated series that aired either in prime time or daytime.

Finding Love

Next, the actress landed her landmark role: Y&R's Leanna Randolph, a former patient of Dr. Steven Lassiter's (Rod Arrants). The good doctor had just married Ashley (Eileen Davidson) when Leanna made the scene. Originally, Leanna was meant to be a short-term villain who was intent on eliminating Ashley, but then-head writer/senior executive producer/creator of Y&R Bill Bell tweaked the character so she could be kept on the canvas.

Crampton's next stop was 3000 miles away when she left the West Coast to take on the role of Melinda Sue "Mindy" Lewis on Guiding Light. She stepped into the part that had previously been played by Ann Hamilton, who stepped in after Kimberley Simms vacated the part. Mindy was originated by Krista Tesreau, who scored a Daytime Emmy nomination for her turn as Billy's adorably spoiled daughter.

After Crampton left GL, she turned to Los Angeles and familiar territory. She was still on CBS, but she didn't revive Leanna. Instead, she took on the part of Maggie Forrester on Bold and the Beautiful. Maggie was Jessica's (Maitland Ward) mother. Dylan (Dylan Neal) and Maggie had an affair, but Jessica never learned of the fling.

Later, Maggie entered a triangle with Sheila (Kimberlin Brown) and James (Ian Buchanan). After that wrapped up, Crampton exited the show. She has recurred as Y&R's Leanna in 1998-2002, 2006, 2007, and 2023.

Catch The Last Stop in Yuma County on Paramount Plus and Showtime. You can watch new episodes of The Young and the Restless on CBS and Paramount Plus.
