Comings & Goings: The Young and the Restless casts Catherine Kresge as Det. Annie Stewart

The Young and the Restless is adding another law enforcer to its storyline that's set in Los Angeles. Actress Catherine Kresge has been cast as "Annie Stewart," an LAPD detective assigned to investigate Noah Newman's car accident.

As Noah (Lucas Adams) may have been purposely run off the road, Annie will have her work cut out for her. Watch for Kresge to make her debut on Thursday, November 20.

If the name "Annie Stewart" sounds familiar to you, then you may be a longtime fan of As the World Turns, as there was a character by that name on the show. There was speculation that someone at Y&R was an ATWT viewer, as both shows have had characters named "Lily," "Holden," and "Damian."

On YR, those characters are (or were) played respectively by Christel Khalil, Nathan Owens, and Jermaine Rivers. On ATWT, the same-named characters were played by Martha Byrne (Lily), Jon Hensley (Holden), and Paolo Seganti (Damian).

Or maybe this is all a coincidence? While ATWT's Annie was a doctor, Y&R's version of the character is out to get to the bottom of what happened to Noah.

For the record, several actresses played the part of Annie on ATWT. Those performers include Ariane Munker, Martina Deignan, Julie Ridley, Randall Edwards, and Mary Lynn Blanks.

Kresge's credits

Kresge brings some soap experience to her role at Y&R. In early 2024, she played Dr. Sawyer on General Hospital. In 2011, Kresge played Sienna, an attorney, who went on a date with Bianca (Christina Bennett Lind) on All My Children.

Her other credits include the feature films Hello My Name Is Doris, A Good Day to Die Hard, and Fantastic Four. Television credits include guest starring roles on 911: Lone Star, SWAT, NCIS: Hawaii, and Chicago Med.

According to the actress's website, Kresge was born on a military base and moved from city to city to out of the country, and back again during her formative years. She is no stranger to new circumstances, challenges, and people, which has infused her work with a curious and empathetic eye.

Also, per her site, Kresge is classically trained in theater, having received her BFA in Acting from the University of Arizona (Summa Cum Laude) as well as a BA in Political Science.
