Y&R's Jason Canela joins Carol Burnett, Ricky Martin, more in Apple's Mrs. American Pie

Several soap stars have signed on to the upcoming Apple TV+ series Mrs. American Pie, a 1970s comedy that explores Palm Beach high society.

Apple TV+ is forging ahead with the casting of its comedy series, Mrs. American Pie, and the names attached will make soap opera fans break into a boogie.

Set during the powder keg era of the early 1970s, the project follows Maxine Simmons and her attempt to secure her seat at America's most exclusive table: Palm Beach high society. As Maxine attempts to cross that impermeable line between the haves and the have-nots, the series asks the same questions that baffle us today: Who gets a seat at the table, how do you get a seat at the table, and what will you sacrifice to get there?

Mrs. American Pie will star Kristen Wiig as Maxine, alongside All My Children alum Carol Burnett (ex-Verla Grubbs) and General Hospital alum Ricky Martin (ex-Miguel Morez), as well as Laura Dern, Amber Chardae Robinson, Allison Janney, and Leslie Bibb.

The ten-episode series has also announced its recurring cast, which will consist of The Young and the Restless alum Jason Canela (ex-Arturo Rosales) in the role of Palm Beach tennis pro Eddie, and Passions alum Julia Duffy (ex-Mother Superior) in the role of old-money high society member Mary Jones Davidsoul, alongside Jordan Bridges, Kaia Gerber, Mindy Cohn, and Claudia Ferri.

Based on a novel by Juliet McDaniel, the project was developed and will be executive produced by Academy Award winner Laura Dern and her producing partner Jayme Lemons, under their Jaywalker Pictures banner.
