New high-profile primetime gig for Y&R's Victoria Rowell

CBS' Good Sam has cast Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters, The Young and the Restless) in the key role of a high-powered hospital board chairwoman who's set to ruffle more than a few feathers.

The Young and the Restless' Victoria Rowell (ex-Drucilla Winters) has joined the CBS medical drama Good Sam, currently in its first season.

Written by Katie Wech and directed by Tamra Davis, the tense drama stars actress Sophia Bush as Sam, a talented yet stifled heart surgeon who embraces her leadership role after her renowned and pompous boss Dr. Rob "Griff" Griffith (Jason Isaacs) -- who's also her father -- falls into a coma. Her life becomes complicated when he awakens and wants to resume surgery.

According to Deadline, Rowell has signed on to play the key role of Tina Kingsley, a high-powered, sophisticated chairwoman of the hospital board with the kind of power that does not assert itself.

"Alienated from her son Malcolm (Edwin Hodge), Tina possesses a strong will to take what's in her sights -- even when it means navigating complicated relationships from her past," teases the outlet of the actress' new primetime alter ego.

Rowell is known to daytime audiences for her 1993 to 1998 and 2003 to 2007 runs as Y&R's Drucilla. More recently, the actress created, directs and stars in The Rich and the Ruthless, which moved to BET+ last year. The soapy comedy series is loosely based on Rowell's novels, Secrets of a Soap Opera Diva and The Young and the Ruthless.

Some of Rowell's previous credits include Diagnosis Murder, Dumb and Dumber, Trash vs Treasure, and the female-focused BET Her Presents: The Waiting Room.
