ABC has set the cast for Adopted, a single-camera comedy pilot, and it includes The Young and the Restless' Sofia Pernas (ex-Marisa Sierras).
Congratulations are in order for Sofia Pernas (ex-Marisa Sierras, The Young and the Restless), who has been chosen for a role in the ABC comedy pilot Adopted.
The single-camera pilot, co-written and executive produced by Jimmy Kimmel, is inspired by the real life of Green Beret Shawn Vance (played by himself), who returns home to Texas from military service and struggles with the adoption of his new brother, a socially unaware and naive twelve-year-old Russian boy named Daniel (Maxim Swinton).

Pernas portrays Dr. Zora, an adoption specialist who is Daniel's homeroom teacher and the apple of Shawn's eye. The character is described as being intelligent and charming, accustomed to being fawned over, a black-belt in flirt-jitsu, able to keep her cool when others don't, and the voice of reason in an otherwise chaotic world.
Other stars on the project include Bruce Campbell, Wendie Malick, Tate Moore, and Reyn Doi.
Sofia Pernas starred as Y&R's Marisa from 2015 to 2016 before going on primetime series like Jane the Virgin, The Brave, and Blood & Treasure.
It's been a busy week for past and present soap stars landing non-soap roles: General Hospital's Maurice Benard has been tapped to play a real-life mobster; Multi-soap vet A. Martinez will star in the Michael Bay action film Ambulance; All My Children's Michael B. Jordan will make his directorial debut with the film Creed III; and B&B's Gina Rodriguez has not one but two upcoming Netflix projects.
What do you think about the premise and casting of Adopted? Do you think it might have the potential to be picked up to series? How much do you miss seeing Sofia Pernas as Y&R's Marisa?
