She's currently playing Mariah Copeland, but Camryn Grimes will step back into the shoes of The Young and the Restless' Cassie Newman for a special storyline in connection with Sharon's (Sharon Case) breast cancer.
While The Young and the Restless' Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) continues her battle with breast cancer, everything is being done to keep her spirits. The character's deceased daughter Cassie is set to return to Genoa City in order to help see her mother through this difficult time.
Actress Camryn Grimes, who currently plays Mariah Copeland, is thrilled about the opportunity to once again briefly reprise the character she played from 1997 to 2005, when Cassie tragically died in a car accident.
"This is what I was excited about and couldn't say!" Grimes shared on social media as soon as word of her return as Cassie broke.

According to Soap Opera Digest, upcoming storyline will see Sharon begin to prepare for her first chemotherapy treatments and assure Rey (Jordi Vilasuso) that she might not feel any bad side effects for a while because treatment protocols have changed. Later, when Sharon is trying to sleep, she hears someone call out her name. At first, she believes it's Mariah -- but then she realizes it's actually her daughter Cassie in ghost form.
"Sharon's not afraid," Case previews of the special moment. "She truly believes that Cassie has somehow come at a time that Sharon could really use a visit from her daughter."
As fans may recall, fourteen-year-old Cassie died in a car accident after she chose to get behind the wheel of a car when Daniel Romalotti (Michael Graziadei) was too drunk to drive. Her upcoming return isn't the first time that she has visited her loved ones in spirit form since dying in 2005; she made return appearances in 2006, 2007, 2009, and 2010.
Grimes also played the role of Cassie from 2013 to 2014, when Sharon began experiencing hallucinations. However, it turned out that Victor (Eric Braeden) had paid a Cassie look-alike named Mariah to gaslight Sharon. That Mariah is the same Mariah that fans see in Genoa City today -- albeit a very much redeemed version!
The airdate for Cassie's return hasn't been announced. Keep one eye tuned on Soap Central for updates as we learn them and the other eye on whatever screen you use to watch Y&R.
