The Young and the Restless star Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki Newman) confesses that she'd love to see the Newman family lose everything -- but one of her costars cringes at the idea.
The Newman clan has been a central family on The Young and the Restless for as long as fans can remember, meaning they've been through countless ups and downs over the years. But Melody Thomas Scott, who recently celebrated her 40th anniversary playing the role of Nikki Newman, says there's one major storyline she'd love for the writers to pen that the Newmans have yet to face: being poor.
In a recent video interview with ET Canada, the fan-favorite actress confesses that her dream would be to see the family lose everything and find out how they would fare with that kind of fate.
"I would love to see them lose their money and their property and their corporations and then see how they navigate the world of being poor... to really see them fall hard," she says.

However, Scott reveals that her longtime costar Eric Braeden (Victor Newman) doesn't share her enthusiasm for such a story.
"If you talk to Eric, he does not like this idea at all, so don't mention it because he'll start an argument with you!" she says with a laugh.
Scott took on the character of Nikki back in 1979, and both she and her alter ego know a thing or two about not having many pennies to rub together. As viewers may recall, Nikki was an exotic dancer when she met and fell in love with Victor. And that's just one of many adventures she's had as her Y&R character.
"I don't ever want to be like Nikki," she says with a laugh. "But it's almost like I have lived a whole other life through Nikki."
What do you think about the possibility of the Newman family losing everything and having to face life penniless? Would you like to see that storyline twist, just as Melody Thomas Scott would?
