A trio of blast-from-the-past fan favorite actresses is heading back to The Young and the Restless for the CBS soap's upcoming forty-fifth birthday.
CBS Daytime shows always know how to party, which is why The Young and the Restless is celebrating its upcoming forty-fifth anniversary in a very special way. Three lovely ladies from the soap's past are scheduled to return to Genoa City for the birthday bash.
As part of its quest to pay tribute to forty-five years on the air, Y&R is bringing back Jaime Lyn Bauer (Lorie Brooks) and Janice Lynde (Leslie Brooks) -- two members from Genoa City's first family. Meg Bennett, who made her Y&R debut in 1980 as Victor Newman's (Eric Braeden) wife Julia Newman, is also scheduled to return.
Entertainment Weekly reports that all three are back on set today to film their scenes, which are scheduled to begin airing the week of March 26.

At this time, the exact details of the characters' returns are being kept under wraps. However, the storyline (or storylines) should bring back plenty of nostalgia, considering all three actresses have considerable history with the soap. Bauer played Lorie from 1973 to 1982 with reprisals of the role in 1984 and 2002. Lynde originated Leslie in 1973 and played the role until 1977. Meanwhile, in addition to her early '80s stint, Bennett made a return in 2002 when Victor gave her some much-needed help during a hostile takeover of her company.
Created by William J. Bell and Lee Phillip Bell, Y&R made its debut on March 26, 1973. It has been the number one daytime drama for twenty-eight years, with stories that revolve around the rivalries, romances, hopes, and fears of the residents of the fictional Genoa City -- a Midwestern metropolis dominated by the Newman, Abbott, Baldwin, and Winters families.
UPDATE (February 22, 2018): There are even more anniversary returns coming to The Young and the Restless. Kelly Kruger and David Lago will reprise their roles as Mackenzie and and Raul. Lauren Woodland is also headed back to Genoa City as Brittany.
