Y&R's Justin Hartley headed to primetime in new series This Is Us

NBC has ordered This Is Us, the previously untitled pilot featuring The Young and the Restless' Justin Hartley (Adam Newman) and singer Mandy Moore.

The primetime television world has been turned upside down in the last few days with the news of many heartbreaking series cancellations (including Nathan Fillion's Castle and Hayden Panettiere's Nashville), but there has also been some good news -- well, depending upon how you look at things. NBC has decided to pick up a pilot starring The Young and the Restless' Justin Hartley (Adam Newman).

The peacock network has given an official green light to This Is Us, which previously had been called The Dan Fogelman Untitled Project. The show follows a group of characters who share the same birthday, among other curious connections.

As Soap Central previously reported, the series stars Hartley in the role of Kevin, a handsome and successful television actor who's bored with his bachelor life. Mandy Moore, Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, and Ron Cephas Jones also star in the upcoming series.

With the series picked up, the impact on Hartley's status with Y&R is not yet known. It could, however, mean that Adam's future may once again be up in the air.

According to a show spokesperson, "It's show policy that we don't comment on the contract status of the cast."

Are you happy to hear Hartley's pilot has been picked up? Do you fear the new project will take him away from Y&R? If so, who would you want to see in the role of Adam -- if anyone at all?
