The Y&R star dishes on which stars should take home the gold and what she really thinks of the current drama between Cane and Lily.
The Young and the Restless' Christel Khalil (Lily Winters) attended this year's Daytime Emmy Kick Off party at the Hollywood Museum on Tuesday night in support of her Emmy-nominated show and costars. Soap Central snagged a few moments with the popular actress on the red carpet to get her take on all things Emmys and -- of course -- what she truly thinks of the trouble facing Cane (Daniel Goddard) and Lily.
soapcentral.com: We have just a few more days until the big night. Have you found your Emmy dress yet?Christel: No, not yet.
soapcentral.com: What? Really? Are the pickings slim this year? I keep hearing that many people aren't ready, but we're down to the wire!Christel: Well, when you're not nominated, it's not as big of a deal, so it's like, "Well, what can I find," that kind of thing.

soapcentral.com: Ah, I guess that makes sense. Is there anyone in particular you're rooting for this year? Y&R had some spectacular reels.Christel: I'm definitely rooting for Elizabeth Hendrickson [ex-Chloe Mitchell] because she's my girl, and she hasn't won yet, and I think she really deserves it. And of course Kristoff [St. John, Neil Winters], because he plays my dad on the show, and he's amazing. So we'll see.
soapcentral.com: So Cane and Lily are facing some major problems right now, which I'm actually really happy to see.Christel: Finally, we're facing problems! Finally.
soapcentral.com: I know! But how do you really feel when the writers create problems for Cane and Lily? In the past, it's been a problem, because fans of the couple are so vocal about keeping them together. But as an actor, I imagine you like having dramatic stuff to play. So are you torn?Christel: Well I think it's good for the fans, too. It's good to give them something to root for rather than just, "Oh, look. They're happy." Even if they feel comfortable with that, it's good to get them a little excited.
soapcentral.com: Unfortunately they're going to blame the new head writers [Charles Pratt Jr. and Tracey Thomson], because the couple didn't have problems for so many years, and they come in, and now Cane and Lily are facing the storm.Christel: I know, I know. But they should be [facing problems]! They should be. It's a good thing.
Are you happy to see a little drama thrown Cane and Lily's way? Or would you truly rather see them stay a happy couple? Share your thoughts in the Comments section below, on our message boards, or by submitting Feedback.
