Big storyline changes to rock Y&R now that new scribe is in control

The Young and the Restless' new head writer reveals that a major shakeup is on the way for the daytime drama.

Now that Charles Pratt Jr. has taken over as head writer of The Young and the Restless, the number one daytime drama series is headed for some big changes. The scribe told Soap Opera Digest that he has taken the show by the horns and given it a major overhaul.

"Emotional stakes will be at the forefront across all stories, and you'll see more centralized stories with bigger umbrellas touching more characters with shared challenges and hopes and fears," he told the publication of what fans will soon be seeing in Genoa City.

In addition, Pratt says that fans can "expect a faster pace, deeper, more relatable emotions, and a sense of 'I can't believe they're doing that!'"

The scribe has a long history of writing for drama series, which includes work for All My Children, General Hospital, Santa Barbara, Sunset Beach, and Melrose Place. His Y&R episodes began airing this past Friday, January 16.

What do you think about Pratt's plans for Y&R? Do you feel the soap could benefit from a few changes, or do you like it just the way it is? Share your thoughts in our Comments section below, on our message boards, or by submitting Feedback..
