It's only a matter of time before Adam Newman resurfaces in Genoa City -- but who will be playing the role? Internet theories have put several names into consideration, including the most recent actor to play the role, Michael Muhney.
It's been more than two months since The Young and the Restless released its casting call for the role of "Aaron Newton," widely regarded as a thinly veiled attempt to quietly recast the role of Adam Newman. Now comes word that the CBS soap has ramped up its efforts to bring Adam back into the fold -- and that a familiar face might be welcomed back to the role.
Tipsters report that Muhney was recently spotted at the Y&R studios, and Soap Opera Digest reports that CBS executives may be thinking about having Emmy-nominated actor Michael Muhney (Adam Newman) reprise the role he played from June 2009 through January 2014.
Muhney's December 2013 announcement that he'd been let go from The Young and the Restless stunned fans.

"It was explained to me that CBS and Sony want to give Adam a break for three to six months and then they'll bring him back with a different actor," Muhney said in an interview the day after he was told he'd been let go.
Several weeks later, a celebrity gossip site reported that Muhney's dismissal was brought on by alleged improprieties. CBS, The Young and the Restless, and Muhney have not commented publicly on the allegations. Per site policy, Soap Central has withheld the name of the alleged victim.
Despite online rumors, All My Children vet Cameron Mathison (Ryan Lavery) is reportedly not in the mix to take on the role of Adam. Mathison is, however, said to have been approached for another role.
Y&R does not comment on rumors or contracts.
