Beyond the Gates’ Sean Freeman takes Andre from playboy to pivotal

On Beyond the Gates, Andre has been enjoying his clandestine meetings with Dani, or shall we just call them what they are, booty calls. Up until now that is, Andre realized how far Dani has fallen.

The magnificent Dani Dupree (Karla Mosley), took shelter in the arms of Andre and a rare thing happened. We really saw Dani open up and be vulnerable enough to see that someone was trying to help her and not pull her down further. Beyond the Gates has seen Dani on a whirlwind of self destruction since the first episode. It could easily have been mistaken for being just a fleeting interest as and when needed but Sean Freeman’s character Andre Richardson is more than just a playboy photographer. In fact I wouldn't even describe him as a playboy. Andre as a character has really grown on me because at first I thought here was this guy who would flirt and try and break up a happy home with Ashley and Derek.

Someone with no moral compass other than one that points at what he wants only. Since then Andre has shown there is far more to him than that. Sean’s ability to deliver scenes that are believable and draw you in has been a treat to watch. When Dani drank too much and had fallen again, Andre arrived, scooped her up and carried her to bed, took her boots off, covered her up and had painkillers and water at the ready.

Sean Freeman gives us the best Andre we have seen

In the morning he got real with her, Dani didn't want to hear it but Andre wouldn't give up until he got through to her. Dani snarked at him and said some cruel things, even mocked his youth and that he couldn't handle her. What Andre couldn't handle was her drinking and ruining her life. The scenes on Wednesday 16th April were the clincher, Sean Freeman gave us the Andre we always knew he could be.

Whether it was telling Dani straight up that she can be the Dani again that lit the room up and had a fire you could feel a mile away or the scenes with Ted (Maurice Johnson) and Nicole (Daphnée Duplaix) where he talks about family and love, I had to laugh when Andre came over to see Ted and Nicole and Ted thought Andre was going to spill the tea on their confidential discussion about Ted’s affair with Leslie (Trisha Mann-Grant) the horror look on Teds face was on the money. Once again Andre showed he was a man of character and loyalty and Sean pulled it off so convincingly.

Andre Richardson is a fan favorite character on Beyond the Gates and it’s easy to see why.
