Showtime's popular thriller series, Yellowjackets, is reported to be wrapping up with its Season 4. The show follows the story of a group of teenagers who were stranded in a forest after their plane crashed. Their survival in the wilderness changed them and still affects them, as shown in the present timeline.

In an Instagram post on the Yellowjackets official Instagram page, creators Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson shared the shocking statement about the show ending with the upcoming season. In the emotional post, they shared that while it was difficult to let go of the beloved show, it was also important for them to end it when it was time.

Yellowjackets ending with season 4

Yellowjackets premiered on November 14, 2021, and quickly became one of the best shows on Showtime. The thriller series was packed with powerful performances from the ensemble cast, and also had surprising elements of supernatural, horror, and thriller, among others.

Creators Nickerson and Lyle has previously shared with the Hollywood Reporter that they were thinking of ending Yellowjackets with five seasons. Therefore, the fan-favorite show ending with Season 4 would shock many.

In the Instagram post, the creators revealed that they always knew there would be a last time for the show, and with Season 4, the time appears to be right. The post reads as:

"After three incredible seasons, and great consideration, we’re excited to announce that we will be bringing the story of Yellowjackets to its twisted conclusion in this fourth and final season. We’ve always known there would come a point when the story would tell us it wants to end, and it’s our belief that our job - our responsibility - is to listen."

They further shared how grateful they were to work with the cast and crew of the show. They shared:

"Telling this emotional, wild, and deeply human story has been a profoundly meaningful experience and a true honor for us, and we’re so very grateful to the brilliant cast, crew and writers who have bravely gone on the journey with us to bring it to life."

At the end, they thanked the fans of the show, who had helped them make it one of the popular shows over the years. The post further reads:

"Most of all, we want to thank the fans who have stuck with us through every moment, mystery and meal — the Hive is nothing without you! We can’t wait to share the final chapter with you and hope you find it…delicious. All the best, A & B"

As per Deadline, the production on Season 4 will begin in 2026, with the show premiering later that year. The thriler series stars popular Hollywood names such as Melanie Lynskey, Ella Purnell, Christina Ricci, and Tawny Cypress, among several others.
