What happened in Would You Marry Me episode 1: A quick recap

As mentioned before, episode 1 of Would You Marry Me K-drama, is packed with humorous and emotional moments. It introduces Me-ri as a talented and hardworking designer who's about to get married to her boyfriend, Kim Woo-joo.

The wedding is just a few days away, and just when Me-ri realizes that she's about to be someone's wife, her life falls apart. She learns that Woo-ju has been cheating on her and was planning to continue the affair even after the marriage.

Before Me-ri can recover from the heartbreak, she finds out that she has been scammed in a real estate fraud. At this point, Me-ri breaks down, thinking she has nothing left. But fate had at least one good thing for her: Me-ri becomes the winner of a luxurious, newlywed house.

However, there’s a catch: she can only claim the house if she’s legally married. Fortunately, Me-ri didn't submit the divorce papers in the Seoul Family Court, whihc means she remains legally married, and just needs to bring Woo-joo with her to prove that they're newlyweds.

Before this, Me-ri met another man named Woo-joo, whose family owns one of Korea's best bakeries. When Woo-joo returns from abroad, he crosses paths with Me-ri in a minor car accident. Since she was drunk, Me-ri beat up Woo-joo, and amid the chaos, she ended up sitting on a cactus plant.

This leads to another comedic scene as the doctors had to remove the spines from Me-ri's back. Woo-joo then dropped her and asked Me-ri to take care. The next day, Me-ri learns that she will only get the house if her husband also shows up.

So, she decides to ask the new Woo-joo to help her out by pretending to be her husband. By the end of episode 1 of Would You Marry Me, Me-ri invites Woo-joo to a restaurant and asks him to marry her. This leaves the man in shock as he was expecting anything but a marriage proposal.
