It's official—Tires is rolling into Season 3. Netflix has renewed the office comedy for Season 3, and for this one, the word arrived just after Season 2 of the show went live on June 5, 2025. The announcement silences rumors about the future of the show and assures that the Shane Gillis starrer isn't done yet.

Season 3 was commissioned after Season 2 was released, allowing the season to get a clear production and reception boost. Although Netflix has not made people-watching numbers official, the renewal is most certainly a result of Season 2's improved critical reception and much better audience response.

Tires Season 2 brings major changes—and more episodes

One of the most notable shifts of the two seasons was the episode length. Season 1 contained six episodes, yet Netflix doubled Season 2 to 12. The bigger format allowed the creators Shane Gillis, Steven Gerben, and John McKeever, to further explore the dysfunctional dynamics of Valley Forge Auto and hone the show's wry, character-based comedy.

Season 2 experienced deeper storylines, broader character development, and diverse interactions between the main cast. It also experienced subtle shifts in tone and pace that viewers picked up as significant improvements on the first season. The result? A critical acceptance boost and web buzz that most likely ensured approval for Season 3.

What is Tires about? A quick recap for new viewers

Set in a struggling Pennsylvania car repair shop, Tires comes with Will (played by Steven Gerben), the harried but well-meaning manager determined to save the shop. His cousin Shane (played by Shane Gillis) as it happens, is his co-worker—one who's lazy, apathetic, and is constantly trying to undermine and sabotaging Will's efforts at professionalism.

The series is co-created by Gillis, McKeever, and Gerben, and also directed by McKeever. The series is produced under Gillis' banner and is famous for back-of-the-throat, cringe humor, bare-bones production process, and minimalist story-telling. It is built on dry comic beats and not punchline-based sitcom élan.

Season 3: What we know so far

Though Netflix has officially renewed Tires Season 3, not much is known about the production. There is also no mention of how many episodes this new season will contain nor any new cast members they might be thinking of taking on in Season 3. Gillis, Gerben, and McKeever's core group must return, however, as well as some of the other main ensemble cast.

What has been officially announced is that Season 3 of Tires will debut in 2026. That's the kind of timeline Netflix maintains under its year-round normal model of production, particularly for lower-costed scripted comedies. If Season 3 takes on the longer season format of Season 2, fans can anticipate being provided with another 10 to 12 episodes.

Why netflix renewed the series

Netflix has not released standard viewership data for the series, but it has been suggested that the critical difference between Season 1 and Season 2 was the primary reason behind its renewal. Initial reviews of Tires Season 1 were underwhelming, with some lauding it as being too conservative or specialist. Season 2 however, was enjoyed for its enhanced writing, refined pacing, and more daring character development.

Ratings among viewers increased as well, and boardroom buzz and social media among fans started to cement Tires as a cult favorite. Netflix's quick consideration to renew the series soon after Season 2 hit the airwaves would indicate that the streamer must have felt that there was some long-term upside with which they could afford another season.

Further, Netflix has not confirmed if Season 3 would mark the end of Tires. The network has remained silent about any additional seasons after this reboot. There has been no multi-season trajectory announced, and there has been no word from the creators to hazard a guess about closing out the show.

Critical reception and cultural impact so far

While Tires didn't quite take off to a flying start, it soon established a small but devoted fan base. Season 2 was met much more positively, with some reviewers noting the show managed to assert its bumbling style more confidently. Gillis' and Gerben's performance also improved from two-dimensional to passionately understated.

Aside from reviews, the series has also been the darling among dry, realistic comedy viewers, with comparisons being made to Workaholics, Louie, and The Office—albeit with a far more milder tone. The fact that Tires Season 3 remains in production only makes it a sleeper hit in the portfolio of Netflix comedies.

The official renewal of Tires for Season 3 ensures that the comedy of Shane Gillis is not dead by any means. With Season 2 having released on June 5, 2025, and season 3 in the works for a 2026 release, the fan base of this garage-grounded cringe show has a lot to be excited for. The increased critical acclaim and loyal fan base for the show have therefore been enough to make demands for a new season.

Whether Season 3 will be the final season or not remains to be seen. But this much is certain: Tires has officially reached its stride—and Netflix is keeping it rolling.
