Will The Bear get a Michelin Star in Season 5? Here's what I think

FX's Emmy-winning series The Bear, starring Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri, has been renewed for a fifth season. Created by Christopher Storer, The Bear Season 4 premiered on June 25, 2025, and ended on a cliffhanger. While it did address the fate of the titular restaurant, it still left viewers wondering 'what next?'. Carmy's sudden decision to quit the restaurant and hand over the successor's baton to Sydney in the season finale was quite shocking to the viewers (count me in).

I've been watching this show since day one, and like many other fans, I've often felt like I was strapped into the back of Carmy's kitchen, sweating through the dinner rush with him. It's always been more than a show about food; it's a show about perfection, pressure, and purpose.

Throughout the four emotional, chaotic, and sometimes maddening seasons, I saw Carmy and his team trying their best to transform Carmy's late brother's sandwich shop into a fine dining restaurant in Chicago. But with Carmy's shocking decision to quit the restaurant business, I found myself asking the question: Will The Bear finally get that Michelin Star?

While we don't know what will happen in Season 5, it feels like the next logical step. Season 4 of the show revolved around rebuilding the business after a rough opening, navigating a soul-crushing Tribune review, and getting the team in shape to finally win the prestigious Michelin star.

Will The Bear get a Michelin star in Season 5? Here's my take on it

I'll be honest, part of me wants them to win the star just to give Sydney, Ritchie, and Sugar the recognition they deserve. They have grown, they've adapted, and they've survived. Sydney especially has earned her true position after years of trying to prove herself in a male-dominated and ego-driven industry. With Carmy stepping back from the kitchen, it's her vision that will guide the restaurant in the future. However, Carmy has also promised to quit the restaurant after it becomes financially stable or wins the Michelin star.

But here's where it gets tricky. The Bear isn't a feel-good fantasy series- it's rooted in real-life challenges and opportunities. Maybe Carmy and team will finally understand that it's not just about earning the star or any accolade-and that the star doesn't fix anything.

Carmy has chased perfection his entire life—so much that it broke him. So maybe the Michelin star becomes less of a finish line and more of a mirror of reality. What does success mean if it costs you your health, your relationships, your joy?

I think The Bear Season 5 is going to do what the series does best: subvert expectations. So will they finally get a Michelin star next season?

Maybe. Maybe not. But either way, I'll be watching. And honestly? I just want to see how Sydney takes on the new responsibility.

The Bear Season 5 is slated to release in 2026. Stream all the episodes of the culinary drama on Hulu.
