Outlander: Blood of My Blood has only just completed its first season, but fans already want to know if there's more to the story.
And the good news is, yes, the show has already been confirmed for a season 2 return via STARZ.
The confirmation for a second season came even before season 1's premiere, which only proves the confidence STARZ has in the spin-off. As the love stories of Jamie and Claire’s parents had us all on a choke-hold, we now wait eagerly to see where the next season will take them.
Here’s everything we know so far about Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2.
Renewal was confirmed before Season 1 even aired
It’s not every day that a show gets a confirmation for another season before fans even see episode one, but Outlander: Blood of My Blood did just that. In June, when the teaser trailer for the show dropped, Starz surprised everyone by announcing the return for Season 2.
Showrunner and executive producer Matthew B. Roberts shared in an interview with Town & Country that they had already been planning the future of these characters and their stories. Matthew B. Roberts shared;
“Season one was finished before we got the pickup...We had already started thinking about the stories, hoping for renewal, and knew where we wanted to go, so we planted that into season 1.”
According to Roberts, season 2 will continue to explore “epic love stories” with the same depth that made the original Outlander such a hit. As the first season saw two separate timelines (18th-century Scotland and World War I England), the prequel found its own place in the franchise and the universe.
The renewal ensures that these parallel love stories will continue to grow, which means tying even deeper connections to Jamie and Claire’s family roots.
Production for Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 is already underway in Scotland
Outlander: Blood of My Blood production officially started in Scotland in June 2025, on the very same stages where the original Outlander series was filmed over ten years ago.
Rory Alexander, who plays the younger self of Murtagh Fitzgibbons Fraser, also confirmed the good news while having a chat with Town & Country during the Season 1 press release. He said;
“We’re back on track for season two, so yeah, another one coming straight down the barrel...”
In a statement released by Starz, Matthew B. Roberts praised the show, saying,
“The passion and talent our cast and crew have poured into Outlander: Blood of My Blood has been extraordinary, and we’re thrilled to continue these epic love stories in Season 2...”
So far, the cast includes Harriet Slater, Jamie Roy, Hermione Corfield, and Jeremy Irvine.
While there’s no official release date as of yet, the fact that filming has already begun is a promising sign that fans might not have to wait long for season 2.
With Outlander: Blood of My Blood Season 2 already in production, the story is far from being over just yet. The confirmation for a second season and the enthusiasm from the cast members and the production team hint that the story of Jamie and Claire’s parents will only get more and more interesting from here onward.
Whether or not the next season broadens their love stories, the Outlander universe continues to live on. Fans can rest easy knowing a second season is in fact on the way and that Scotland’s magic isn’t fading anytime soon.
