Albeit it was the night before her wedding festivities began in full force, at the very least, it happened. Team Conrad has been incessantly waiting for Conrad to stop yearning from afar, to drop his hero complex, and take matters into his own hands.

He finally stopped running from his feelings and told Belly he loved her, but her reaction was nothing he'd ever expected. But what can one expect when he tells her just two days before her wedding that she shouldn't be with Jeremiah or marry him? Why Conrad never confessed his feelings before the bachelor parties in The Summer I Turned Pretty

Conrad has always known that he loved Belly with all his heart, but he has never been the one to actually tell her how he felt about her. Well, not until the night at the motel in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 2. That night in the motel, he told her that he still wanted her, but even then, he never told her he loved her.

After the night in the motel, he decided to even take that away because he felt as if he would only ever hurt Belly. He decided that since Jeremiah and Belly made each other happy, and he had only hurt her, he would walk away from Belly, choosing for her.

After the motel, Conrad barely ever came around to Cousins Beach for any occasion, distancing himself from the two. We get to know in The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 Episode 5 that, that night at the motel, he stayed up all night, thinking about his brother, his mother, and Belly. His mother made him promise to take care of Jeremiah on her deathbed, and Jeremiah is the only family Conrad has after their mom died.

Conrad wanted to do right by his mother, his brother, and especially by Belly. So, he decided that the best solution to the situation would be for him to walk away and bury his feelings.

This summer on The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3, there have been many moments where Conrad found himself next to Belly, looking right into her eyes. It was just the two of them in the world for him in those moments. But even then, he never confessed his feelings or asked her to be with him and not marry Jeremiah. Wanting both of them to be happy played a big role in that.

However, everything changed for him after the bachelor party. Jeremiah and his college friends from Finch got extremely drunk, and one of his friends, while ribbing Jeremiah about marrying and settling down, unaware that Conrad could hear them, announced Jeremiah's escapades in Cabo with Lacie Barone.

Finding out that his idea of the great relationship Belly was in was completely untrue made him realize that he never should have let her go. On finding out that Belly actually knew about the fact that Jeremiah cheated on her, he couldn't understand why she'd still choose to be with him.

In that moment of desperation and knowing that she deserved to be treated better than Jeremiah had treated her, he faces his feelings and confesses his love for her.

Conrad finding out that Jeremiah cheated on Belly and that she decided to stay with him despite knowing made all the reasons that he had been holding himself back for so long seem worthless. Earlier, he thought Jeremiah would treat her better than he did, and that she would be happier with him. After finding out that there was the slightest possibility that none of that was true, he couldn't hold himself back, leading to the desperate confession.
