Ever since it's release on October 18, 2024, Hysteria! has been grabbing a lot of eyeballs. It is a thriller show that pays an homage to '80s small-town America and the Satanic Panic that had gripped suburbia back then.
Starring Bruce Campbell and Chiara Aurelia in lead roles, the series harkens back to a time when social media and rapid modes of communication were not available and a sense of paranoia and fear of the occult forces prevailed among citizens.
The plot of Hysteria! is set in a fictional suburban town called Happy Hollow, purported to be in Michigan, populated by god-fearing residents. However, tragedy strikes the town when a high school quarterback goes missing without a trace.
As the investigation into the disappearance progresses under Chief Dandrige, played by Bruce Campbell, the residents discover the possibility of further sinister forces being at play.
On the other hand, the narrative also focuses on the friendship between Dylan Campbell, Spud and Jordy. The trio appear as a heavy metal band called Dethkrunch and try to utilise the panic created by the disappearance to solidify the aura of their band.
Here's everything we know about the shooting locations of the first season of Hysteria! on Peacock.
Hysteria! shooting locations revealed
Despite the story being set in a fictional town at Michigan, much of the filming for the show took place in Atlanta, Georgia. Keep reading to find out more.
1) Atlanta, Georgia
It is imperative for a mystery-thriller show to create an atmosphere that supports and further sustains the sense of awe. It is perhaps owing to this reason that the show creator Matthew Scott Kane decided to film in Atlanta, Georgia.
Despite being a modern city, Atlanta has still retained much of its old word charm with architecture that is reminiscent of the '80s. Additionally, the suburban setting also gives off a creepy and mysterious vibe which is perfect for the show.
2) Covington, Georgia
Apart from the suburban neighborhoods of Atlanta, several sections of the show were filmed in Covington, Georgia. The Cinelease Studio - Three Ring, situated at 11642 GA-142 Bungalow 10 is where numerable scenes of the show were rehearsed and brought to life.
The location offered a lot of strategic advantages to the makers of the show since it was at once spacious and very close to the nearest airport, thus allowing the cast and crew members ease of travel.
In recent years, Covington has been described as the backlot of Georgia owing to its vast and sprawling spaces that often host shooting crews. In the past, such popular shows like The Vampire Diaries, Legacies, Career Opportunities and Doctor Sleep have been filmed in the vicinity.
Spooky incidents took place during the filming of Hysteria!
According to a report by Us Weekly, a few strange and albeit spooky incidents took place during the filming of the Peacock show. Chiara Aurelia revealed:
"Actually, our set was a little haunted. The night before we started filming, I had a black cat that arrived at my door. I’m not super superstitious but it was definitely an interesting (experience), like, ‘OK, we’re starting to film tomorrow and there’s a black cat at my door."
She further added that one of the cars belonging to the production was hit by a train. Luckily, no one was hurt in the accident.
