Netflix has added an exciting new feature to its platform to help viewers save the best moments from their favorite shows. Called Moments, the feature allows users to revisit a particular scene from a content piece again and again.
Viewers can bookmark moments from their favorite episodes directly on the mobile app, and can also share them with their family, and friends, and on social media. The purpose of the update is to let users save their most-liked scenes from titles directly on the app.
Whether you want to show some exotic location from Emily in Paris to your friends or relive the memorable kiss in the carriage between Colin and Penelope in Bridgerton, all this can be done with Moments.
Netflix launches Moments on mobile to enable scene-saving and sharing
Netflix rolled out Moments on iOS devices on Monday, October 28, 2024. The streamer announced that Android devices will also get the update in the upcoming weeks. The platform has come up with the innovation to let its viewers share the best moments of a title with their friends directly on the app.
The streamer does not allow users to screenshot or screen record the videos to combat piracy. Hence, it was difficult for viewers to capture a moment from a show or a film and talk about it with their loved ones. With Moments, the streamer has come up with a solution to the issue.
Announcing the feature, the platform said in a press release:
“Whether you’re replaying the intense final showdown in BEEF or a spooky twist in Wednesday, Moments lets you save and share it all. And with Season 2 of Squid Game coming on Dec. 26, it’s the perfect time to revisit those nail-biting game sequences from Season 1 and get ready for what’s next.”
How to use the Moments feature?
The Moments tab is being added to the controls screen at the bottom, besides options like Speed and Audio & Subtitles. To save a scene, just tap on the Moments option, and it will be saved on the My Netflix tab in your mobile app.
From then onwards, the particular episode or film will start playing from the bookmarked moment whenever rewatch it. You can share a Moment on a social media platform when you create it, or later from the My Netflix tab.
The streamer gives you the choice to directly share the Moment on apps like Facebook and Instagram, via text message, and by copying links. When someone opens the link or clicks on your social media post, they will be redirected to their Netflix app, where they can watch the scene.
Netflix has launched the It’s so good campaign to promote Moments
To popularize the feature and make people aware of it, the streamer has launched the It’s so good campaign, featuring stars like Cardi B, Simone Biles, and Giancarlo Esposito.
The streaming giant has released a video featuring the three celebrities, showcasing fans around the world talking about their favorite scenes from various titles. Addressing the rollout of the feature and the campaign, the streamer's chief marketing officer, Marian Lee, released a statement to Variety. She said:
“You know that feeling when a scene, character, or line from a show or movie just sticks with you, and you can’t help but text your friends, ‘You have to watch this, it’s so good!
Lee added:
“Our new campaign is all about celebrating these unforgettable moments, taking you back to the feeling you had when you first became obsessed with a great show on Netflix.”
For now, iOS users can access Moments on the streamer's mobile app, while the launch date for Android users is yet to be announced.
