What happened to Father Khatri in From Season 1? Character arc explored

Father Rudra Khatri, played by Shaun Majumder, was an important character in From Season 1. He often acted as the voice of reason for the small community in the mysterious town. Besides helping out the people of the town, Father Khatri also helped new people who got trapped in the town to understand the town and live by the rules to survive.

Apart from helping other people, Father Khatri also plays an important role in Boyd’s (Harold Perrineau) life, and even dies in his arms in Episode 7 of From Season 1. Even after his death, he has been appearing in Boyd’s visions as a moral compass.

Father Rudra Khatri had been a part of the community even before Boyd’s arrival. In From Season 1, we have seen how Father Khatri often appeared as a level-headed person. He would mostly be found helping other people around the town.

He even helped the Matthews family understand the rituals and also about the choosing ceremony, including numerous other rules that were created to protect the living from the deadly monsters that appear at night in the town.

His relationship with Boyd is one of the most highlighted ones in the series. The relationship complexities were depicted during their decision to put Frank in the box due to his careless act, which resulted in the death of his wife and daughter. Father Khatri was fine with Frank being kept in the box without any talisman for a night, but Boyd retracted and did not want that.

However, Frank decided to be in the box and was torn apart by the nocturnal creatures of the night in From Season 1. Father Khatri held his funeral, as he was the one who took care of these things in the town. He tried to protect the people of the town and find out more about the mysteries to make sure that everyone could go back to their homes, including Boyd. However, his life ended in From Season 1, before he could discover more about the mysteries of the town.

From Season 1: How did Father Khatri die? Details explored

In From Season 1, Father Khatri learned that Sara Myers, although dangerous for the town, might be used to help find out more about the town, as she has a unique connection to the place. In Episode 7 of From Season 1, Father Khatri locked Sara in his church to protect her from getting killed, as she could communicate with the creatures.

However, as the creatures found a new way of tricking the people of the township, in episode 7 of Season 1, one of the creatures tricked Kevin and entered the Colony House, killing several residents. Father Khatri became one of the victims of the attack as he tried to save the people from being killed by the creatures, until his own throat was slashed.

He died in the arms of Boyd, who has not been able to forget about him. As a result, even after his death in Season 1 of the horror series, Father Khatri has been appearing as Boyd’s consciousness in Seasons 2 and 3, guiding him.
