Outlander season 7 part 2 is all set to hit the screens after a mid-season break of more than a year. The historical fantasy drama has been on air since 2014 and has always impressed audiences with its emotionally rich narrative set in a bygone era.

We last saw Jamie and Claire on screen in August 2023, when season 7 part 1 concluded, and the couple left the American Revolutionary War to head back to Scotland.

Outlander season 7 part 2, which begins airing on November 22, 2024, is expected to be packed with drama, emotions, and dangerous situations as the show starts wrapping up various storylines before its eighth and final season.

7 plot points that can be expected in Outlander season 7 part 2

Here are some of the most significant plot points that can be explored in Outlander season 7 part 2:

1) Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian return to Scotland

After years of struggle in the American colonies, Jamie, Claire, and Young Ian finally make their way back to Scotland. While their return to Lallybroch, the Fraser family’s ancestral estate, is meant to be a homecoming, it will be anything but peaceful.

The Revolutionary War’s effects will follow them across the Atlantic. At Lallybroch, they would come across familiar faces like Jenny Fraser Murray, who will bring a nostalgic element to the narrative. However, the traumas from their past, including the tensions around the Jacobite rebellion, will continue to test Jamie and Claire.

2) New enemies threaten the Fraser family

While the couple will return to Scotland, they will face some new enemies who will threaten their safety. In an interview, actor Sam Heughan hinted that Jamie’s quest for revenge could lead to a risk for the family.

Characters like Dougal MacKenzie and Geillis Duncan would also reappear in the show, marking the comeback of some old foes, who will stir up trouble for the Frasers.

3) Jamie and Claire’s marital struggle

Jamie and Claire have survived countless challenges together, but Outlander Season 7 Part 2 will push their relationship to its limits. Claire is called back to the colonies for a medical emergency, leaving Jamie behind in Scotland.

This separation would test their bond in ways they have never experienced before. Executive producer Maril Davis has teased that their marriage will face its biggest challenge yet, with external forces trying to pull them apart.

4) Lord John Grey’s deep connection to the Frasers

Lord John Grey has always played a key role in the story, and Outlander season 7 part 2 will be no different. Grey’s loyalty to the Frasers and his special connection with Claire might come into focus as he helps them through the struggles.

This plot point will likely depict how deeply he cares for the family and the sacrifices he is willing to make for them.

5) Roger and Buck's mission to save Jemmy

Jemmy, Brianna and Roger’s son, has been kidnapped by Rob Cameron. Rob planned to take Jemmy through the stones to the 18th century to find hidden Jacobite gold. Roger will now travel back in time with Buck MacKenzie to rescue Jemmy.

Meanwhile, Brianna will stay in the 1980s with their daughter, Mandy. Brianna will have to find a way to protect her family in her own time while hoping Roger succeeds in bringing their son home.

6) Claire’s journey back to the colonies

Actress Caitriona Balfe has confirmed that Claire will have to leave Scotland and return to the colonies. In Diana Gabaldon’s book An Echo in the Bone, on which the season is based, Marsali Fraser, Claire’s stepdaughter, asks for her help because Marsali’s son, Henri-Christian, is gravely ill.

Claire feels she is the only one who can save him and leaves Scotland to help him out. The show might also highlight how Claire has to make a choice between her love for Jamie and her duty as a healer.

7) The possibility of character deaths

In an interview, Maril Davis warned fans to brace themselves for an emotional rollercoaster in Outlander season 7 part 2. He hinted that the new episodes will feature some heartbreaking moments, including deaths. Episode 11, in particular, is being billed as one of the most emotional episodes of the series.
