The Perfect Couple is a mystery drama miniseries that will feature the lead acting of Nicole Kidman, Liev Schreiber, Eve Hewson, and Dakota Fanning. The miniseries will revolve around a novel of the same name by author Elin Hilderbrand.
The show made its debut on the streaming platform on September 5, 2024.
The plot of the show revolves around a fancy wedding in Nantucket. The wedding turns tragic when a body is discovered on the beach in the wake of the ceremony. All of the guests who were to stay over the weekend at the house are suspects.
Critics give the series 61% on Rotten Tomatoes, while viewers have given them a score of 69%.
2) The Accident
Genre: Thriller drama
The Accident is a Mexican thriller drama. It premiered on Netflix on August 21, 2024. Klych López and Gracia Querejeta are the directors, while Leonardo Padrón handles the script. Ana Claudia Talancón, Eréndira Ibarra, and Erick Elías star in the show.
It is a fictional story with three children dead and another missing in a tragic incident. Anger and vengeance are the basis around which the show revolves, with the families immersed in them.
Having said this, even though the show did not get huge ratings by the critics, it is an excellent binge-worthy drama to enjoy with family members over the weekend.
3) Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter
Genre: True crime documentary series
Into the Fire: The Lost Daughter is a true-crime documentary series that came out in two parts on September 12, 2024. The docu-series highlights the journey of a mother who searches for her daughter whom she once gave up for adoption. Under the helm of Ryan White, producing credit goes to Charlize Theron, this is the latest behind-the-scenes role of Charlize Theron after she won one Academy Award.
In 2010, the adoption agency wrote a letter to Tarkanian stating that her daughter went missing at age 14 in 1989. Tarkanian was very determined to find her daughter. She knew her date of birth, which was enough to trace her file in the missing persons section of the Michigan state police department.
4) Rebel Ridge
Genre: Crime action thriller
Jeremy Saulnier directed the crime action thriller film, Rebel Ridge. This film is about Terry Richmond, an ex-Marine as played by Aaron Pierre, who tries to rescue his cousin from a corrupt police force that took things belonging to him based on an unfair law.
The film features a talented cast of Don Johnson, AnnaSophia Robb, David Denman, Emory Cohen, Steve Zissis, Zsané Jhé, Dana Lee, and James Cromwell.
Rebel Ridge premiered on the streaming platform on September 6, 2024. The show has received positive reviews from critics and should be a must-watch show over the weekend.
5) Outlaw
Genre: Crime film
The Brazilian crime film Outlaw is directed by João Wainer. The movie tells a gripping story about a young woman's rise to power in a Rio de Janeiro slum that is controlled by drug dealers.
The movie was released on the streaming platform on September 11, 2024.
The show centers around Rebeca, whose life takes a rough turn when her grandmother sells her to the local drug lord, Amoroso, at just nine years old. Despite the odds, she never gives up and learns the ropes of the drug business, becoming an outlaw.
As the power dynamics change in the Rocinha favela, Rebeca finds herself at the center of it all, eventually becoming the wife of the top drug dealer.
