The Harry Potter television series, scheduled to be released in 2027, has revealed more of its cast members. The show is based on the novel series of the same name by J.K. Rowling and will bring the wizarding world to life in a much more detailed way than the film series did.

Production began in July 2025. While much of the cast has already been announced, the cast for only two members of the Weasley family has been announced. Now, HBO has announced the cast members who will play the Weasley siblings in the upcoming HBO Harry Potter TV series.

The Weasley Family has been cast for the Harry Potter television series

As HBO posted on Instagram, Fred, George, Percy, and Ginny Weasley have been cast, in addition to Ronald and Molly Weasley. The post included a picture of the actors playing Ron, Fred, George, Percy, and Ginny, with the caption,

"The Burrow is nearly full.
Joining our very own Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley,we warmly welcome Tristan Harland as Fred Weasley, Gabriel Harland as George Weasley, Ruari Spooner as Percy Weasley, and Gracie Cochraine as Ginny Weasley to the HBO Original Series Harry Potter. (Charlie's in Romania at the moment but will be joining us soon enough...)"

The last part of the caption in brackets is a reference to a plot detail from the first book of the Harry Potter series. In The Philosopher's Stone, Charlie, the second-eldest Weasley sibling, was said to be in Romania, where he was studying dragons. Katherine Parkinson has been cast as Molly Weasley. HBO hasn't announced who will be playing Charlie and Arthur Weasley yet.

The Weasleys are extremely important in the book series. Ron Weasley is one of Harry's best friends, while Ginny Weasley is a crucial character in the second book, Chamber of Secrets. She eventually becomes an important character, helping the trio in their battle against Voldemort. Ginny also dates Harry later on and gets married to him.

Percy, Fred, Charlie, Bill, and George Weasley are important characters in the story as they have meaningful appearances and all play a role in defeating Voldemort. Molly and Arthur Weasley were two of the most loving people Harry had met, who treated him like their own child. Due to the Weasleys, Harry felt a semblance of what a family means.

Harry was orphaned when he was a baby, and then raised by his maternal aunt, Petunia, and her husband, Vernon Dursley. But they did not treat him well and made him sleep in the cupboard under the stairs. Harry hadn't known what it felt like to have a loving family until he met the Weasleys, who took care of him, loved him, and adored him like they would've if Harry were related to them by blood.

In the film series, Julie Walters played Molly Weasley, Mark Williams played Arthur Weasley, James and Oliver Phelps played Fred and George Weasley, Bonnie Wright played Ginny Weasley, and Chris Rankin played Percy Weasley. Richard Fish played Bill Weasley in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, while Domhnall Gleeson played the character in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: I & II. Alex Crockford played Charlie Weasley.

The Harry Potter television series will be released in 2027.
