The Great British Bake Off is a beloved baking competition that debuted on Channel 4 on September 24, 2024. This season has been a mix of all, from cake week to caramel week to even 1970s week.
Episode 9, also the semi-final of the show, aired on Channel 4 on November 19, 2024. In order to make it to the finale of The Great British Bake Off, Gill Howard, Christiaan de Vries, Georgie Grasso, and Dylan Bachelet went head-to-head to win a plate for their dessert on the finale table.

Among the last 4 bakers left, Gill Howard fell short and had to leave the tent. During the "Patisserie week," when the contestants were asked to take up 3 challenges, Howard's flavor couldn't satisfy the judges, and that got her eliminated right before the big finale.

Who is Gill Howard from The Great British Bake Off Season 15?
Gill Howard is a 53-year-old traditional baker from Lancashire. She is known for the northern delights and her take on making classic flavors with modern twists. Throughout her journey on the show, Gill's preparations have been loved for the wonderful flavors.
However, the semifinal demanded a little more than that.
In Episode 9 of The Great British Bake Off, Gill's patisserie couldn't meet the bars set by the judges. Her sweet delights failed to compete with the other desserts presented to the judges by Christiaan de Vries, Georgie Grasso, and Dylan Bachelet.
The contestants had to go through 3 challenges in the episode to make it to the finale and win the show. Even though judges loved Gill's bakes in the Signature and the Showstopper rounds, she fell short of satisfying the judges during the technical challenge. This is why she had to bid goodbye to the tent on November 19.
Gill Howard's goodbye note to The Great British Bake Off 2024
After getting eliminated from the show, Gill left a heartfelt note for her family and friends in the tent and on the other side of the screen.
In her note, she talks about her bond with the other bakers,
"I enjoyed every moment with a bunch of fabulous bakers. I learnt such a lot from them. Never did I expect to make eleven new friends in my 50s."
She also shows her gratitude to her family, friends, and husband,
"I have to mention my wonderful (and annoying) husband, Steve. Without his support I would not have been as successful, both on the tent and life itself.
In the note, she also mentions that it was her sister who pushed her to get on the show,
"To my sister V, thank you forbullyingencouraging me to apply when I never would."
In addition to all the gratitude she mentioned, she also talks about how technical rounds were tough for her,
"I was so far out of my comfort zone, technical definitely brought back my exam panic, apparently you never grow out of that!"
She wrapped up by bidding goodbye to her "giddy kippers."
