Jeremy Allen White plays the protagonist Carmen Berzatto, a.k.a. Carmy. White's character is a culinary prodigy. However, after bidding farewell to his life as a Michelin-star chef, he takes over his deceased brother's old restaurant. Carmy's sole purpose revolves around restoring it to a fine-dining joint with a reluctant staff used to the 'old way.'

Due to the sudden shift in the environment and adjusting to new realities, Carmy juggles his emotional health and the stress of handling a restaurant - instead of working in it. After being thoroughly pruned, Carmy pushes each staff member to cooperate with certain non-negotiables in the upcoming season.

2) Ayo Edebiri as 'Sydeny Adamu'

Ayo Edebiri plays Carmy's right hand and biggest supporter in the kitchen - Sydney Adamu. Edebiri's character as a chef on The Bear is described as bright, creative, and gifted in the realm of gastronomy. Earlier in the show, she struggled with fitting in and finding her voice.

But, after significant effort, grit, and a meltdown, Sydney bucks up and takes control of the kitchen as a sous chef. Her character desires to experience Carmy being his authentic self - a prodigy in the kitchen. Although eager to learn, she sometimes goes against her boss's better judgment.

3) Ebon Moss Bachrach as 'Richard Jerimovich' or 'Cousin Richie'

Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays the cathartic 'Cousin Richie' on The Bear. Although Richie isn't related to Carmy by blood, the Berzatto siblings have long been friends. Richie often butts heads with Carmy about almost everything - a cynic. He despises change, which is evident throughout the show's three seasons.

But he's not completely incorrigible. Despite his attempt to conceal the truth about Mikey's (Carmy's deceased brother) letter in season one, Richie came clean about shady ordeals, including selling illegal substances in the ally of the restaurant. Although he appears to be an antagonist, he has a redemption factor in The Bear.

4) Abby Elliot as 'Natalie Berzatto' or 'Sugar'

Abby Elliot plays Carmy's older sister, Natalie Berzatto, well known as 'Sugar' in The Bear. Sugar struggles to come to terms with the loss of their brother. In the first season, she appears flustered over her younger brother's emotional well-being.

Although the two have several arguments, Sugar consistently assures her brother that she'll always have his back. In season 2, she proved it by taking on the risky role of COO for The Bear. Sugar is also described as the mother of the group that the staff look up to and Richie greatly fears.

5) Matty Matheson as 'Neil Fak'

Matty Matheson plays the beloved Neil Fak, known as Fak, in The Bear. Although he's a practicing chef in real life, Matheson plays the buzzing maintenance person on the show. All chores related to kitchen maintenance are passed down to Fak.

The bubbly persona contributes as much as possible to the restaurant's success. However, he stresses Carmy with the cost of repairs. Fak and Richie often butt heads and call Sugar to intervene in their feuds.

6) Liza Colon-Zayas as 'Tina'

Liza Colon-Zayas plays the zestful Tina in The Bear. Initially, Tina comes off as both sassy and arrogant and doesn't listen to anybody but 'Jeff' - her name for Carmy. Tina has been around since the beginning of The Beef (now The Bear) and was, therefore, irked when Sydney intervened and attempted to take charge.

However, after a few episodes into the first and next seasons, fans realize just what a big softie she is. Season 2 explores her past and gives viewers insight into how rough her life was. Furthermore, after being properly appreciated and acknowledged by Sydney, Tina went on to pour her heart and soul into The Bear.

7) Oliver Platt as 'Uncle Jimmy'

In The Bear, veteran actor Oliver Platt plays Carmy's uncle - 'Uncle Jimmy.' Viewers are introduced to Jimmy when he pops by Carmy's residence to discuss his deceased brother's $300,000 debt. While still pressed about collecting his dues, Platt's character incredibly supports Carmy's ventures - doubtful yet supportive.

Although incredibly wealthy in the show, Uncle Jimmy eventually decides to invest in Carmy's restaurant, especially after the pitch he, Sugar, and Sydney presented. Uncle Jimmy plays a very prominent role in pushing his nephew to find ways of generating revenue throughout the three seasons of The Bear.
