Netflix released Tex Mex Motors Season 2 on November 22, 2024. The second season aired all eight episodes and introduced Mike Coy's car restoration team.

As featured on the auto body shop show Tex Mex Motors, they are based on the US-Mexico border and are focused on restoring vintage cars. For that, Scooter Carrera and Rob Pitts, aka Rabbit, roam around the US-Mexico border searching for unique cars that they can restore and keep in working condition.

Whenever the wandering duo finds such gems, they negotiate a price, and after striking the deal, they start working on restoring the classic cars at their Borderland Customs shop. The team working at Tex Mex is looking forward to making a $500,000 profit by selling refurbished cars before the winter ends.

What happened in Tex Mex Motors Season 2 Episode 1? Details explored

Tex Mex Motors Season 2 Episode 1, Back in the Borderland, saw car scouts, Scooter, and Rabbit traveling to check out a 1952 Chevy. While on their way, Rabbit shared an update on things that have happened since:

"We're goin' deeper into Mexico to go after even more rare and expensive cars with the goal of making 500 grand before the end of winter. We also had some big changes in the shop. Mike decided to take another opportunity. And Jenicio had twins! Between that and his dad's shop, that boy's got his hands full."

At Borderland Customs, as Jaime, the engine and electrical in charge shared:

"So quite a bit has changed here at Borderland Customs. For starters, we have a couple of fresh new faces."

She introduced Andy, "a paint and design genius," and Lucky, "an interior whiz who can create beautiful custom designs from scratch."

Jaime further shared:

"Before Scooter and Rabbit headed down to Chihuahua to find a 1952 Chevy, they scored us a sweet 1970 Camaro for our first build in the new shop."

To restore the Camaro, the Tex Mex Motors team started with a $20,000 budget, and as Jaime shared, they would turn it into a "street-legal racer." She also mentioned how racing was "super popular" in El Paso.

While looking for a '52 Chevy in Chihuahua, Scooter and Rabbit got another lead for a '66 Lincoln, which they decided to follow.

"You know, we came all the way from El Paso deeper into Mexico looking for a '52 Chevrolet but then got a lead on a suicide-door Lincoln, which anybody knows is worth twice as much as an old '52 Chevy any day of the week," shared Rabbit.

They bought the Lincoln in exchange for an additional $3,750 for their pickup truck.

While the rest of the team worked on the previously bought cars, Rabbit and Scooter arrived with their latest purchase, the suicide-door Lincoln. While expecting the Chevrolet, they were surprised after seeing the Lincoln.

"'66 Lincoln Continental. Straight as an arrow. No rust, no rot. This thing has got potential for days. Do you know how much money we paid? $3,750."

After Scooter and Rabbit mentioned the price, Jaime asked for the truck and the trailer they left with. As they got the car inside the workshop, the team started discussing ideas on how to begin restoring it.

Then, they had their hands full working on Camaro and Continental. While the rest of the team started working on both cars, Scooter and Rabbit went to buy a truck for the shop since they exchanged their truck for the Lincoln.

The next day, at the Borderland Customs shop, the team worked on finishing the custom touches on the race car they had been working on.

Recalling how the Camaro arrived, Tex Mex Motors star Jaime shared:

"When the Camaro arrived at the garage, it pretty much was just a shell of a car. We removed all the rust, installed a beautiful custom black interior, and topped it off with an eye-popping paint job. We also gave it disc brakes and fat tires. But under the hood is what makes it a real showstopper."

As Jaime talked about taking the Camaro for a spin, she mentioned Rabbit already had a potential buyer ready. When Jaime took the customized Camaro for a spin, she felt something was missing, as it "sounded" different. They took it back to the shop.

Rabbit and Scooter bought another truck, which cost $30,000, while Jaime had told them to keep the budget around $25,000.

Simultaneously, they also restored the Lincoln that Rabbit and Scooter recently purchased. Jaime and the team, including Wes, were also ready with the Camaro after adjusting the fuel regulator. Wes was supposed to race with potential buyer Benjamin at the race track.

"You beat us, you get the Camaro for 60 grand. But if we win, you buy it for 65 grand," shared Rabbit before the race.

Tex Mex Motors Season 2 Episode 1 featured a race between Wes and potential buyer Benjamin, which Wes easily won.

"Today, it wasn't really a race. It was more of a test. If it didn't beat my old farm truck, I would've needed a $5,000 discount," shared Benjamin.

The old Camaro that the team bought for $5,500 was restored with a budget of $20,000 and sold for $65,000.

Tex Mex Motors stars Scooter and Rabbit saw the much-awaited '52 Chevy at Chihuahua. However, when they saw the car in extreme condition, they were unhappy and talked about how Jaime would "flip" after learning about it.
