Surely Tomorrow ending explained: Breaking down Kyeong-do and Ji-woo’s emotional reconciliation

Surely Tomorrow brings life to the aspect of love and loss in a thought-provoking manner. Through the storyline, there is a depiction of the significance of telling a story with realism. Ji-woo and Kyeong-do go through multiple difficulties. Along with it, the manner in which they handle the challenges that come their way are brough to life in an authentic manner.

Neither of them takes hasty decisions without thinking deeply about the well-being of the other person. Both Kyeong-do and Ji-woo are considerate of each other’s feelings. This aspect of Surely Tomorrow makes the ending resonate deeply.

Breaking down Kyeong-do and Ji-woo’s emotional reconciliation in Surely Tomorrow ending

At the end of Surely Tomorrow, Kyeong-do and Ji-woo’s life comes across yet another devastating situation. Kyeong-do and Ji-woo spent a whole year away from each other. During this time, both of them made quite a lot of progress in their lives. Yet, they were unable to move on.

They loved each other immensely. This made it difficult for them to overcome. After her trip to Malaga is over, Ji-woo returns. She then gets a call informing her about Woo-sik’s death. Kyeong-do also gets the call, which makes him return quickly for Woo-sik’s funeral. Woo-sik was an anchor in both of their lives. He brought a heartwarming touch to the friend group since the time they first met. Woo-sik was extremely dedicated as a friend.

His love for Kyeong-do creates a heartwarming impact in their lives. Hence, losing him makes Kyeong-do rethink everything. During the funeral, Kyeong-do comes across Ji-woo. They speak about the time they spent apart. However, neither of them speaks about being together. Kyeong-do then tells Ji-woo that he will be returning. His words undeniably disappoint Ji-woo.

Yet she decides to remain quiet. She accepts his decision once again. At the very end of Surely Tomorrow, while Kyeong-do is waiting at the airport for his flight back, Ji-woo, unable to stop herself, decides to stop him from leaving.

Kyeong-do decides to stay back after Ji-woo tells him to. Surely Tomorrow ends with a happy ending for Ji-woo and Kyeong-do’s relationship. Ji-yeon is also able to overcome the complications that were created by Min-woo. Despite Min-woo’s incessant tries to sabotage Ji-yeon’s life, in the end, he is not successful and is put behind bars for his crimes.

It cannot be denied that the ending of Surely Tomorrow brings a peaceful note to the storyline. Though many viewers expected to get more storyline about Ji-woo and Kyeong-do’s situation as the two of them spent a whole year away from each other, the ending of the series is satisfying. Woo-sik’s death adds the layer of complication that enhances the aspect of emotional difficulty that propels Ji-woo and Kyeong-do’s situation in the series.

The performance of the cast members captured the essence of the series, bringing forth the layer of authenticity that Surely Tomorrow comes with from the beginning.

Park Seo-joon does an impeccable job in bringing out the layers of complications that Kyeong-do goes through in the series. Similarly, Won Ji-an’s performance as Ji-woo in bringing out Ji-woo’s striving to be together with Kyeong-do leaves an impact.
