It has been eight months since the conclusion of Bad Sisters Season 2, but Apple TV+ has not yet announced the renewal of the Irish black comedy series for another chapter. The show has earned critical acclaim and decent viewership with its tale of five sisters who come under scrutiny when the abusive husband of one of them dies mysteriously.
Sharon Horgan, who serves as the co-creator of the series and also stars in it as Eva Garvey, has now opened up about the future of the program. In an interview with Deadline, the actress said Bad Sisters Season 3 will happen if the team is able to come up with the right idea. She added she would like to wait some time before continuing the story:
“I want it to feel so real that whatever story lands on them, again, I’d want it to feel very believable and very truthful that these women could find themselves in another situation that deserves a narrative. So, whatever happens, I’d want to wait for a while and then pick up the story again.”
Sharon Horgan talks about the possibility of Bad Sisters Season 3
During the interview, Sharon Horgan added that she is currently working on an untitled HBO Max series; however, she has already had conversations with Apple TV+ about Bad Sisters Season 3. Hinting at a time gap between Seasons 2 and 3, Horgan said:
“Well, I spent some time thinking about ideas, because it’s hard not to. When I talked to Apple about it, I mean, obviously I’m doing my HBO show, and so that’s what I’m concentrating on now. But when I spoke to Apple about it, it was kind of like, if I did it again, I’d want time to have passed.”
While Horgan is open to making Bad Sisters Season 3, she reaffirmed that it will only happen if she is able to come up with a good story, and does not want to continue the show just for the sake of its popularity:
“But it is about finding the right story. There’s literally no point in doing it for me or for the cast or for the fans of the show if it isn’t a great story. That goes without saying. So, it’s always like there’s something percolating in my head, and then I’ll have to see if it becomes a thing.”
The show originally premiered in August 2022 and was renewed for a second season in November of the same year. The sophomore chapter aired in November and December 2024. Ever since, fans have been awaiting updates about the future of the series, but Apple TV+ has not renewed it yet.
Apart from Sharon Horgan as Eva Garvey, the show stars Eva Birthistle as Ursula Garvey, Eve Hewson as Becka Garvey, Anne-Marie Duff as Grace Riley, Sarah Greene as Bibi Garvey, Daryl McCormack as Matthew "Matt" Claffin, Claes Bang as John Paul "JP" Williams, Barry Ward as Fergal Loftus, and Michael Smiley as Roger Muldoon.
