Outlander: Blood of My Blood Episode 4 was highly reminiscent of early Outlander days when a 'Sassenach' accidentally time-traveled to Castle Leoch and formed a friendship with a particular Highlander. While this friendship eventually evolved into love, the prequel series is taking a more friendly approach with Brian and Julia.

The latest episode saw another attempt by Julia to escape Castle Leathers, where she rubbed a poisonous plant all over her body, resulting in a "nasty" rash. Assuming it to be a contagious disease, Lord Lovat gave her permission to leave the Castle and get proper medication from an apothecary. Cunningly seeing through Julia's schemes, Brian stepped up and accompanied her on the journey.

This long wagon journey in Episode 4 started a surprising Fraser-Beauchamp friendship, where Julia and Brian opened up to one another. While Brian opened up about his complicated marriage prospects, Julia reminisced about her fateful trip with her husband that parted them (conveniently leaving the time-traveling part aside).

Since both Julia and Brian are somewhat lonely individuals with not-so-ideal positions at Castle Leathers, they bonded over shared trauma and also found a means to help each other out of their ordeals.

Much to Julia's surprise, Brian brought her to Castle Leoch and asked her to communicate his message to the Lady of the House, Ellen MacKenzie. Since Brian is well aware of his father's predatory nature towards Julia, he also promised to help her escape from Castle Leathers in return.

This surprising alliance in Outlander: Blood of My Blood, Episode 4, hinted that Julia and Brian's friendship could change the fate of their respective love stories with Henry and Ellen. Thanks to Julia's help, Brian and Ellen were partly reunited and expressed their love and loyalty to each other. Their momentary meeting also carried the hope of a future meeting, as Ellen asked Brian to meet her at the Beltaine festival.

On the other hand, thanks to Ellen, Julia learned that the Beltaine festival is held very close to the magical stones that brought her to the 17th century. She offered to accompany Brian to the festival to distract Malcolm Grant and give a moment's peace to the love-sick couple. She further planned to slip out, return to the stones, travel back to the 20th century, and reunite with Henry, unaware that he followed her suit.
