The mystery around Sazz's murder is further intensified in this episode, and the trio uncovers some shocking revelations. The suspicion around Glen Stubbins is finally clarified in the episode when he goes into a coma and eventually dies in the hospital.

Glen's sudden death is not a mere coincidence. His cause of death was found to be suffocation, which meant the killer reached him before the trio could extract information from him.

Apart from the investigation, Charles and Oliver have an emotional moment. The former feels left out by Oliver's approaching marriage. The two have a small argument about Oliver's bachelor's party but quickly reconcile.

The trio disguises to meet Ron Howard at his movie's set as extras. He reveals a fire accident involving Sazz's protege, who they suspect to be the murderer. Their earlier assumptions about Glenn being the killer arise because they mistook him for the protege when he was just a replacement for him.

Charles and Oliver immediately recognize the protege from the picture Howard shows them. Who is he? Marshall, without his fake glasses and beard. His suspicious behavior and Sazz's notes on the script all tie him to the murder.

We leave the episode with Mabel alone in the apartment with Marshall, working on the script, unaware that he is the potential killer. She also finds a script wedged between beer cans written by Sazz Pataki and not Marshall P. Pope.

While episode 9 almost reveals Marshall as Sazz's killer, especially the script, which serves as a motive, there could be another twist in the finale. Marshall may have an accomplice or somebody he was working for.

The My Best Friend's Wedding episode will also feature Oliver and Loretta's wedding. The last episode left Mabel alone with Marshall in the apartment, so it would be interesting to see how she escaped.

Since it is the show's finale, a setup for a new murder mystery is also expected for season 5, which is traditional to the format of Only Murders in the Building.
