Alien: Earth series is going to be a thrilling one for the fans as it is meant to unravel several old mysteries connecting the original Alien movie directly. The show is expected to have some Canon-aligned xenomorph origins. Unlike the plot of Prometheus, the show might affirm that xenomorphs come from a faraway moon, likely LV-426 or LV-223, as originally implied and not a result of any manmade bioweapons.

Noah Hawley hinted, per a recent interview with Vanity Fair, that Alien: Earth may reveal “what was happening on the other side of that phone call.” This essentially means showing why the Nostromo received its xeno-related diversion order. If that is the case, this series could finally answer a 40-year-old question in the franchise's lore.

"I don’t yet know, in terms of the series from beginning to end, how much time is going to pass or where we’re going to end up. But I do know that at a certain point, the Weyland-Yutani Corporation is going to divert the Nostromo to that planet. We have the opportunity to maybe see what was happening on the other side of that phone call."

While the original film only vaguely implies Weyland-Yutani knew about the xenomorph, the new show could depict the exact moment this knowledge is acquired—possibly by scientists, corporate agents, or even victims—and trace how that leads to the Company’s cold, calculated order to sacrifice the Nostromo crew.

Alien: Earth is set just before Alien and has been stylised to evoke its atmosphere. It avoids the engineered origins of the xenomorph in Prometheus and reaffirms them as ancient, natural, and predators. It delves into why the Nostromo mission went sideways.

The first two episodes debut August 12, 2025, on FX/Hulu, while the rest of the episodes will follow a weekly release every Tuesday at 8:00 pm Eastern Time (ET).

The show seems set to be a true prequel to Alien, with a grounded setting and canon for critical mysteries, along with a potential reveal of the Nostromo diversion backstory. So if you’re craving deeper lore and a direct link to the original Ripley-era story, this series is shaping up to deliver.
