What happened in Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2?

Season 2 begins with Masha's chosen group arriving at Zauberwald. The old mansion belonged to her mentor, Dr. Helena Von Falkenberg, whose son, Martin (played by Lucas Englander), is helping Masha with the wellness therapy. The guests include a musician couple, Wolfie (played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers) and Tina (played by King Princess). Tina was a piano prodigy but can no longer play due to emotional distress. Brian (Murray Bartlett), a former TV performer, communicates with puppets when he can't speak.

A former nurse and nun, Agnes (played by Dolly De Leon), is working through all the trauma she faced while in a war zone hospital. Imogen (played by Annie Murphy) wants to get closer to her mother, Victoria (played by Christine Baranski), at the retreat, but is shocked to discover that she has brought a date, Matteo (played by Aras Aydin). Imogen finds comfort in Peter (played by Henry Golding), who had a troubled childhood. He hopes to get closer to his billionaire father, David Sharpe (played by Mark Strong), who is also at the retreat.

In Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2, Masha offers psychedelics to the guests as part of their therapy. While the guests experience a sense of release and calm, they are also compelled to face their biggest traumas, which are holding them back.

Victoria has a seizure after taking the drug. Masha and her daughter learn that Victoria has ALS, and her date is actually her caregiver. Sharpe reveals that he had a one-night stand with Masha, who got pregnant with their daughter. However, Masha lost her in an accident, which changed her life forever. She has been ‘meeting their daughter’ through drug trips.

Towards the end of Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2, the guests realize that Masha selected them for the retreat because of their connection to Sharpe. Sharpe’s company, Signal Op, made weapons that killed Matteo’s family and also affected Agnes, a nurse who cared for war zone victims. Imogen’s father developed the technology behind the Signal Op bombs.

The guilt led him to suicide, a fact Imogen was unaware of. Sharpe also destroyed Brian’s career after his company’s news division aired footage of his outburst on the children’s talk show Crabapple Clubhouse. His company even stopped a music program Wolfie was part of. During the drug trip, Sharpe argues he doesn't deserve all the bad reputation and agrees to stop funding bomb manufacturing.

While hallucinating from the mushroom, Martin is worried that Masha will take control of the property and shoots her. She manages to survive and tells him that she will leave the place to him, despite what his mother would have wanted.

Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 ending

All the characters find closure in some way by the end of Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2. Although Tina and Wolfie decide to separate, she starts playing the piano again. Masha watches her perform and, in a heartfelt moment, sees Tina going through the process of self-healing.

Imogen decides to visit her mother often, not knowing how long Victoria will live due to her illness. Peter and Imogen also share an emotional moment, hoping to maintain their connection. Agnes convinces Brian to take his skills to the children’s hospital to help cheer them up, giving both of them a purpose while continuing their friendship.

Sharpe, however, tells Masha that he may not go through with his agreement to discontinue his company’s military contracts. Masha leaks the recording of the moment he promised the group. Sharpe is unhappy about it, but has no choice but to see it through after giving a warning to Masha.

Nine Perfect Strangers Season 2 features a time jump. After a month, Sharpe meets with Masha and tells her he's ready to invest in her psychedelic retreats. He offers her $100,000 from the deal, which she finds ridiculous. When Masha hesitates, Sharpe shows her footage of Victoria seizing from the drug. Masha ends up signing a document, and the two share a kiss.

The ending of Season 2 leaves viewers hopeful for a third season. The tense chemistry between Masha and Sharpe could set the stage for a storyline focusing on their history together.
