Viewers and fans are gearing up for the Matlock Season 1 finale, scheduled for April 17, 2025. In the middle of the drama is Matty (Kathy Bates), an experienced ex-lawyer whose real identity remains a top secret.

Matlock is not a stereotypical legal drama. The show begins with Matty choosing to go back to work for a big law firm in New York City at the age of 75. Initially, everyone thinks that she has returned because she is in need of money.

But gradually it is revealed that she has a more private and secretive motive for returning, and this enigma gradually unravels during the episodes. Bates is greatly appreciated for her work in Matlock as she combines drama and comedy perfectly in the story.

Recently, the Academy Award-winning actress guested on Jimmy Kimmel Live and highlighted her CBS drama's success. Kathy Bates said:

"It's phenomenal. I can't believe it... We're the number two show in the network... across all networks. We're number six across the whole television ecosystem."

Hearing Bates' praise for Matlock, Kimmel jokes that she "sounds like Donald Trump", to which the actress couldn't control her laugh and mentions the host is trying to get her in trouble.

Since Matlock premiered on CBS, Kathy Bates ensured maximum engagement and fun in the story. Part of the show's success depends on its diverse cast and tackling modern issues while ensuring fans a legal drama.

As previously mentioned, Bates talked about how successful Matlock has become, and now the network is all set to release the finale. The actress explained what the show is all about and how Matty cleverly uses "agism to disarm people and to solve the cases" as she's determined to know the truth.

Not only this, Bates also explained that Matty is "a mole, and she's got this purpose for her daughter", which became the reason why Kathy Bates joined the project, which is now a fan-adored show on the network.

As for the upcoming finale episode, showrunner Jennie Snyder Urman teased that it will be full of drama and surprises, especially for Olympia and Matty. Urman said:

"Before we get into the events of the finale — which have a lot of plot, a lot of resolution, and a lot of big... We needed an episode to really understand emotionally what’s at stake for these two women."

The showrunner continued:

"That’s why the finale is going to be so fraught, because now they both know the truth, don’t trust each other, and have to work together — but can they? It puts everyone into this really cool pressure cooker."

So, don't miss out on watching the last episode of the season and enjoy the drama unfolding!
