The latest episode of Daredevil: Born Again was titled The Hollow of His Hand and aired on Tuesday, March 11. In the most recent episode of Daredevil: Born Again, a faint but distinct reference was made to Spider-Man, thus sparking the possibility of the web-slinging superhero's connection to the dark and murky world of Matt Murdock.

In the relevant scene from Daredevil: Born Again, Matt Murdock is seen making his case inside a courtroom. While working as the defense counsel for Hector Ayala, also known as the White Tiger, Murdock lists the names of several law enforcement officers who have been helped by the White Tiger in the past. The list went:

"Officer Reyes, Officer Wong, Officer Morales, Officer Grunt..."

The very mention of Officer Morales served as a subtle nod to Spider-Man, as the name in this case refers to Officer Jefferson Morales, the father of Miles Morales, i.e., Spider-Man. However, in the absence of any official confirmation, it can't be said for sure whether the web slinger will ever appear on future iterations of Daredevil.

Here's everything that we know.

Daredevil: Born Again: The significance of the Spider-Man connection

In a shared multiverse of characters and storylines, it is natural for individual shows and movies to reference each other in the form of Easter eggs. While Sony still retains the rights to any probable Spider-Man long-format on-screen adaptation, Daredevil can't possibly bring the web slinger on board to aid or assist Matt Murdock.

However, the very mention of Spider-Man's father and the fact that the beginning of the Marvel show explained Wilson Fisk's rise to mayoral power based on a polarized vote concerning the fate of vigilantes such as Spider-Man, Daredevil, and the others goes a long way in establishing context.

Spider-Man has been mostly missing from the screen ever since the 2021 climax of Spider-Man: No Way Home. The related Easter eggs on the Marvel show now give us a fair idea about what he has been up to in this intervening time period. It can be said that his fight against crime has drawn the ire of Daredevil: Born Again villain Wilson Fisk AKA The Kingpin.

Who is Jefferson Morales?

The character of Jefferson Morales has been portrayed differently in the MCU and the comics. While the comics have depicted him as a SHIELD agent, Morales was a police officer in the Spider-Verse films as well as in the Insomniac video games. There was a time when he was referred to as Jefferson Davis before his surname was eventually replaced with Morales.
