What to expect from NCIS: Origins Season 1 Episode 3?
So far, the show has introduced a young Agent Gibbs, who joined the Naval Investigative Service’s Pendleton branch in 1991. The upcoming episode, Bend, Don’t Break, revolves around a murder near Camp Pendleton.
During the investigation, Gibbs and the NCIS head to a mall in San Diego. The agent then takes charge of the situation against the wishes of his team. The official synopsis for the upcoming episode reads:
“A murder near Camp Pendleton leads Gibbs and the team to a suburban mall in San Diego, where Gibbs takes matters into his own hands. Jackson Gibbs pays Franks an unexpected visit.”
CBS has released a brief promo for episode 3, which shows the team discussing how Gibbs has ‘gone rogue.’ Meanwhile, the agent says he has 'nothing to lose' as everything that 'mattered to him had been taken from him.'
What happened in the previous episode of NCIS: Origins Season 1?
The first two episodes of the procedural series were aired back-to-back on the premiere day. The episodes explored how Gibbs was recruited as a special agent by Mike Franks, played by Kyle Schmid, in 1991, and how he dealt with the grief of the loss of his wife and daughter.
Even though he was eager to prove himself at his new job, fellow agent Lala Dominguez (Mariel Molino) had doubts about him because he had failed a psychological evaluation. This led to tension between them.
The main case revolved around the brutal murder of Melanie, whose body was found burned in her home. As the investigation progressed, it became clear that a sniper had killed Melanie. Gibbs’ background as a former sniper helped him gather important clues that ultimately led to the truth.
While the story focused on Gibbs, Lala was also introduced as an important character, suggesting that she would play a significant role as the series continued. The former Marine looks determined and wants to succeed in a male-dominated environment.
The episodes also featured narration by older Gibbs, played by Mark Harmon, who revealed his struggles with past traumas and memories that continue to haunt him. The premiere concluded with the sniper case being solved.
