Creature Commandos, the superhero television series, created by James Gunn and produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation, was released on Max on 5th December 2024 with its first two episodes. The first season consisted of seven episodes, and the finale episode was released on 9th January 2025.

Before the finale episode was released, Warner Bros Discovery released a statement on 23rd December, announcing that Max has renewed Creature Commandos for a second season. Now, months after season one wrapped up, Deadline reports that production for season two has begun.

Creature Commandos is in production

The show is set after the events of Peacemaker season one and follows a back ops team led by General Rick Flag Sr. and assembled by Amanda Waller. The Creature Commandos team consists of The Bride, G.I. Robot, Weasel, Frankenstein, Dr. Phosphorus, and others.

According to Warner Bros, the official logline of the show reads,

“‘Creature Commandos’ tracks a secret team of incarcerated monsters recruited for missions deemed too dangerous for humans. When all else fails… they’re your last, worst option.”

The show starts with the team being sent to help Princess Ilana of Pokolistan, who is under attack by Circe, the Amazonian sorceress. Each episode of season one also takes us back to the past to show the origin stories of the main characters, which help us understand them better.
